84 1200 standard Wing (Pics)
« on: June 21, 2009, 09:01:37 PM »
Hey all,
I just scored a 84 1200 standard tonight. 27,000 miles and he has owned it for 15 years.
He wouldn't go lower than his asking price which I was happy to pay.
I'll have pic tomorrow.

Sounds very cool, I have a GL1000 and a GL1100.
The one thing that I would check on the GL1200 that seems to have a lot of issues is the Stator and if it is bad the engine has to come out to change it.
I would also check and change the timing belts if they have never been changed or if you don't have any info on them. The 1200 is an Interference engine and catastrophic engine failure will happen if a timing belt breaks.
Other than that if you do minimal maintenance it is not uncommon for them to go 200,000 miles.

Very nice. Dude, you have a new bike. Can't wait to see the garage next visit cause I know you'll keep it in. What're going to do with your other toys?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
