eBay Listing
« on: April 18, 2005, 02:41:18 PM »
This eBay listing, now ended, was sent to me as an FYI. When I look at this bike carefully, it seems to have some items that 'seem' inconsistent with what I have come to understand are the norm on this model. For one thing, I thought the side cover badges having the Honda wing on black were for the police models only, the tank badges and molding look correct, but I thought the stripe should be gold and the chain guard appears to be the entended one used on later models. Can anyone comment so I can adjust my details? Thanks.

We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Looked to me as thought the bike had a smaller sprocket like a 40 or 38 tooth with a short chain.
I thought the gold with black stripes should have white pinstripes around the black.

I have a book coming in the mail that should have some insight on this.  Do an e-bay search for "cb750 book " if you want a restorers guide of your own.  They usually go for a bit over $30.00 including shiping.  I waited till one came up that I could get for around $17.00.  I actuall put a space between "CB 750 book" to find the cheap one.

Just got my book in the mail.  For those interested the Haynes Great bikes series CB750 book doesn't look like a good restoreres guide.

I'll enjoy it for the history of the 750 and pre 750 that it has, but I think I'm going to have to invest in the Gold Portfolio, or Complete Story book as restoration guides.

I have a bunch of CB750 books. IMO, the best is "Original Honda CB750", by John Wyatt. Very good photographs and very detailed information. Then, "Honda CB750" by Mick Duckworth, and "Honda CB750" by Mark Haycock. These three are great restorer's guide with all the details, dates, numbers of production etc.

The Duckworth book is the one I have.  I'm looking at the ones you listed.

I passed this auction on to Bob because I was encouraged to see a bike like his go for so much money.  I think He's right about his concerns.  The buyer might back out when he goes to see the bike.  I hope for his sake He realizes how over stated this bike is.
