At the end of the day TC having a bike for the summer is the goal right?

Well...at the end of the day, I have my Vulcan.   ;)   This project can take as long as it needs to take.

Well, I just took the Vulcan on a short ride.  GOD THAT FELT GOOD!!!  I'm usually able to tune it out over the winter, but that first ride makes it all flood back.

At anywho, I did some thinking and I have officially decided that I'm swapping just the front ends, since we've determined that they're a straight shot.  To swap the whole frame, I gotta move the engine, carbs, wiring harness, rear suspension, etc.  I really don't think that's worth the work (Plus, I'd maintain matching VINs, which is good.)

WIMP ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I think the fact that the whole site changed since last time I stopped in here is a sign that I really need to get back to work on my bike...

Actually the "whole" front is easy enough.   The upper triple a bunch of wire connections and with proper lifting of the frame and compression of the forks you can walk the whole thing out with the tire on.
18 grand and 18 miles dont make you a biker

Thanks for the confirmation.  That was my plan, and the fact that I have a bike lift should make it easier.  Jack one bike up, remove the frontend, block it in place, jack the other bike up and swap.

Gonna try to dive into the brakes on the '81 some times before the end of the month to make sure that it's salvageable.  Unfortunately, my weekends are pretty packed in April, so I'm going to have to see where I can fit it in.

Ugh.  One can never get ahead in life, can they?  Part of the reason I'd backed off for a while was to focus on paying off the remainder of the debt incurred earning my nickname, and I did so.  Now, I find myself just getting out of a mini-vacation in the hospital once again (nothing too serious, but another financial setback.)

Can we see about some government assistance program for motorcycle projects, already? ???

Maybe you could pass your project off as a "quality of life" issue.   ;D

Sorry to hear that Crippler, we get "free" if not fast health care here in NZ because of our hideously high taxes. >:( :) :o

This is just a quick check-in to say, yes, I'm still alive and, no, I haven't abandoned my project.  Good news is, there's light at the end of the tunnel, and I hope to have some spare cash to throw at my project here in the new year.
