Countershaft and bearing plate CB750 Help!!
« on: July 11, 2009, 03:30:18 PM »

I just got my cases back together and am putting the shift linkage/etc. back together. My problem is the countershaft is poking out of the case about 1/8" too far, and I can't get the countershaft bearing plate on. I have ran all through the gears and rolled the engine all around trying to get the shaft to pop in, but it isn't happening. Here are some pics...

The bearing plate as far as it will go

the shaft from a flush angle

The inner bearing

Anything other than splitting the cases I can try to get the shaft to seat into the case bearing a little more?

 ???

I am away and have no access to my books/pictures but isn't that shaft sprung on the right side of the primary?  I'm thinking it's hung up somewhere inside and unable to push inward.

I split the cases again and took the countershaft out, put it back in, and it's all the way in just fine. It even looked at me innocently and said "wut?". Cases are back together with a flush countershaft. No idea what the problem was.
