headlight / turn signal - integration

So, I was thinking it would be nice to have no protruding front turn signals. I came across this headlight on ebay that has a decorative "halo" led strip.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcycle-HEADLIGHT-RED-HALO-LED-Headlamp-5-3-4-Harley_W0QQitemZ220450245395QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3353dbcb13&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1171
This got me thinking. If you replaced the single strip with 2 seperate strips on either side of the light and wired these to your turn signals, would this effectively replace your indicators?
I wonder if this would work, or if the beam would overpower the "new indicators" rendering them useless. I'm thinking the beam could wash out the turn signals, but then again you see BMWs with halo eyes and the halos are not washed out.
I wonder if this would be legal?

Many states do not allow red, green, or blue lights on the front of a non-emergency vehicle.
You should check yours.

The BMW lights use HID for primary lighting. (we're talking cars right?) The Halo's are visible because of the narrow killer white area of the HID.
Placed in a regular halogen assembly the halo would be useless unless your lights were off.
Would be a cool idea though if you could get it to work properly with all bulb styles of headlights.
