MUCH cheaper than my NOS set I got last year. Get fresh new grommets to hold them in place and CAREFULLY pull them off with 1 finger/whole hand in front of the tab and 1 behind. I usually do my bottom first then proceed to the top. The grommets stiffen and shrink with time making it difficult to get the covers on or off. Plus you're more likely to have a side cover blow off with old grommets. I keep a small amount of lubricant on my fresh grommets too.

I wish I knew about this site a long time ago. Side panels are really hard to find for these bikes, and have only found one that fits. Where did you pick up your grommets?

I hate to be the barer of bad news but that RC 327 won't work in the F-2 head. The monster overlap of this cam causes valve-to-valve interference in the big-valve heads.
Even the RC 315 requires some massaging to avoid clipping. Sinking the valve seats deep enough for safe running clearance CAN alter the geometry to where the 315 produces close to 327 figures. Now you need chamber, throat, and port work, shim for proper spring height, aftermarket pistons with deep enough valve pockets and enough comression to compensate for blowdown...  
That RC327 is for 'K' heads.

Me and Terry are going back up and the manual says something about 4 copper washers under 5,6,7,and 8 in the manual. Jerry just left his house and on his way So he has most that info in his head.

Change of plans. Going to take the cylinder off and clean it all up.

I would seriously question that, short of having the pockets re cut or barrels shimmed up for valve-to-piston clearance...
You say this is in a '77 F?    A black 410 head casting? Without valve interference?
Pics are worth a thousand words, I just can't see how it would fit.

I think you've got a treasure trove on your hands, just not a pure F-2. How did the motor run to this point?  That RC327 was one of the baddest of the bad-a$$ed hot rod cams of the day.

Yeah its my buddies garage and that is in fact a 914.

anyone have any interesting alternatives to stock side panels?
I am missing my left side, and the right is on its way out.

I plan on making some side panels with Carbon fiber and epoxy if I can get my 750F road ready.  I have gotten pretty good with the stuff building my boat.

I'm planning on a set of side covers from LPM, if I do get them I'll have an original right for sale from a 75F.

I am also planning on getting a set of the lpm side covers, the ones the bike were originals but are cracked beyond repair. I was also thinking about getting a drag bar.
