did i fry my electric
« on: July 25, 2009, 09:29:05 AM »
I was tinkering with my back left turn signal, trying to figure out why it wont stay on all the time (if you move it around it would come on if off, and vice versa)
it looked like someone down the line jerryrigged the bulb so the wire is soldered directly to the bulb, and the spring looked like it might have been soldered on to the bulb as well, but had come off.

any way i way turing and twisting and touching this and that together, then all the sudden i looked up and all the lights on the bike were off, no headlight no nothin,
I dont know if the battery just got totally drained, or if I shot the electric some how. the bike wont kick start either, and I thought that the kick start would work without electric?

I have the bike hooked up to the charger now... have my fingers crossed.

While jiggling the turn signal wires, you accidentally touched a hot lead to ground.  But that's what fuses are for!  Remove the left side cover, and replace your tail light fuse.

Some auto parts stores still stock the shorter Buss fuses.  Alternatively you could replace the stock fuse block with the new style blade fuses that are much easier to get.  There is also a thread on here somewhere about replacing the fuses with small circuit breakers that fit in the stock fuse slots.
