I got the bearings and retainers out of the wheels and polished the rear outer edge.  Wet sand, black, brown, and white buffing compound finished up with some Simichrome.  The original paint on the wheels is a very light silver and I want to try and stay with that color.  I broke the bead on the front tire and started to take it off but my tire spoon put a gouge into the rim so I stopped.  I'm going to have to take it to a shop and have them do it.  I got a quote on powder coat but I thought it was high at $120 per wheel.  I was also considering having the wheels vapor blasted and just cleared.  I got a nice quote from Noblehops but it would involve shipping the wheels from NY to AZ and back so I will probably try to stay local and settle for powder coat.

I had the Henry Abe wheels powder coated with Prismatic Powders Heavy Silver.  It has a silver flake in it that is very hard to catch in the pictures.

I just mounted new tires for the new wheels.  I went with the Metzeler Lasertec front in size 3.25H19 and the Metzeler ME77 rear in size 4.00H18.  I wanted to stick with the oem sizes rather than get close with metric conversions.

The engine paint is Duplicolor Engine Enamel.  The color is 1650.  As always thanks for the kind words guys.  I should have the wheels mounted up in the next week or so.  I have to paint the disk centers on the front and paint the disk holder in the rear silver to match the wheels.

Spring 2017 Update:

The big change this Spring was the 19" front and 18" rear Henry Abe wheels.  They were powder coated Heavy Silver and I polished the outer lip on each rim.  I went with Metzeler Tires in the original sizes; ME77 rear 4.00x18 and Lasertec front 3.25x19.

I wanted a better headlight than the Phillips sealed beam that was in the bike.  I had an old Wipac headlight and I fitted it with a Halogen bulb.

I am in the process of adding a CB900 oil cooler.  I have to work out the mounts but everything is almost ready to go.

I also changed the rear brake stay to an aluminum bar with pivoting ends to accommodate the sliding Hurst Airheart caliper.

Headlamp update:
I updated an older Wipac headlamp with Halogen and LED bulbs.  The Wipac was a less expensive replacement for Lucas headlamps on British motorcycles.  Like the Lucas headlamp they had an incandescent main bulb and an incandescent pilot bulb for running in the daytime.  I updated the main bulb to a specialty Halogen bulb that fits into the Lucas headlamp and I replaced the pilot bulb with an LED.  When the main or high beam lamp is on both the LED pilot bulb and the Halogen bulb light.  When the key is turned all the way to the last position (parking light), the pilot bulb and tail light bulb are on.  This combination throws alot more light than the old sealed beam I was running.
