CB750 K8 ground up resto
« on: July 31, 2009, 02:27:17 AM »
I have begun restoration on my K8. Bike has been in a sad state when i picked her up. Started a month ago. Stripping her so that parts can be ordered. Need to get them all the way into India. Have a bunch of buddies who are helping out with the resto.

Hey RevHappy!

I am new to the site myself...But Welcome all the same!! :D

Looks like quite a nice example you have there....seems very complete.  What country did this come from originally?  the K8 is from1978 right?

Are you going with a stock restore or modified..like a cafe or chopper or bobber?

mismith356, I deem that the K8 is American and yes its from 1978.

A guy in Vizag (a coast city on the eastern side) bought it from a Reverend who was on a mission sometime in the late 80's, while the previous owner was supplying water to the ships anchored at the port. As u can see he abused it without remorse. I went to college in 1997 in Vizag and had my eyes set on her and picked her up after 10 years in 2007.

Im getting her back to original glory minus the cruiser bars. She will be stock street. Im very fond of the 70/80's bikes

What rides you got!

I have a newly acquired 78 CB750F.

Project thread is here:

My other bike is a 2005 ZRX 1200.

So, what's the status of your bike?  Any new pics to share?  How about getting parts, is it hard importing them into India?

Aren't smaller bikes more common in that part of the world?  What do your friends think of redoing a bigger 750?

I work with several guys in India, but have never been there myself.

Wow awesome rides there man. ive always like the ZRX i wanted to get the 2009 DAEG ZRX but in a long list of wants i guess it will have to wait.

No parts here but the modern bikes spares come from singapore and i will have to buy for the classics from the US or the UK. You are right, India is full of commuter bikes of 100-150 cc mostly. The leisure biking scene has imporved in the last 10 yrs and more in the last 3 yrs. We are also particularly crazy about two strokes like the Yamaha RD350. Im a big fan of the 70/80's classics and Nakeds. Im an avid collector and hopefully the CBX1000 would be added to the collection this year. Here are a few of my rides 06 GSX1400, 01 R1, 85 VF1000F. The RD was part exchanged as it wasnt running great and i didnt have much attachment with it. Ive got a a tuned RD with the works which i plan to turn into a streetfighter. i will start the work once im back from Africa next week.

U must visit India it comes with a lot of surprises.
