I kind of wonder about this...I thought I might use a heat gun also to cure because I don't think I'd be able to get the engine back together and running in time. But the question is...IS there a time limit for curing the paint? Say, after 3 days you get the engine together and run it, wouldn't the paint cure then anyway?

I asked VHT directly and they said no time limit just make sure you follow the directions.

Its been about a month of riding and so far so good.  Holding up well...no peeling or flaking off.  Washed bike twice with pressure washer and no problems.  Im happy with it so far.

Very nice bike. Very clean looking. That tail light looks great, too bad you can adjust the angle a little to keep it on. Can you post a pic of the speedo and tach? You mentioned you replaced them but cant see them well in the pictures.

Hi Zaipai...here is the pic of the speedo / tach.  I purchased a couple of new appliques off of a guy who sells em on ebay.  I had to take the speedo & tach apart...painted over the existing green plastic face with a flat white spray paint then applied the appliques over the existing speedo and tach.  The appliques are a clear polyester and stick over top of the existing speedo / tach.  You could paint your speedo / tach pretty much what ever color you want.  They look sweet at night with the back lights on.  I also had to remove and paint the tips of the needles red.  Once that was complete I had to purchase a good sealant to reseal the tops to bottoms of the speedo and tach. Came with instructions on how to do it but kinda pain in the a$$!

Verboten1 its about 37 miles from my house to Jonesville.  Where did you end up having lunch?  I was planning on taking a ride out there or somewhere close to it in the near future.

Sounds like thats where Ill be heading then!!!  Never had deep fried hot dogs before...Ill have to give it a try.

I took a nice ride out to Clarklake today.  Clarklake is about 18 miles from my house.  There is a nice little bar / restaurant called the Eagle's Nest next to Clark Lake.  Great burgers and a good fish fry on Fridays.

Well...the good news is I made it home safe from another day of riding...the bad news is I parked my bike outside the garage to let it cool down for a bit...came out 1/2 hour later and notice a nice little oil spot about the size of one of those dollar size pancakes under the far right side of the bike.  I knew it was too good to be true...figuring a 35 year old bike is bound to have some hicup eventually!

I got down and looked to see where the oil was coming from and immediately noticed one of the oil lines is leaking like a siv where the metal is clamped over the line itself.  I never liked metal being clamped over a hose...same problem Ive had with trucks Ive owned too.  I immediately started searching the internet and no one sells an oem / aftermarket replacement...at least I couldnt find any after searching the internet for an hour.  Although I did find someone who sells an aftermarket set of oil lines on evilbay for about $150...screw that!  I guess Ill have to try and cut the old one off at the leaking end and see if I can fit some type of clamp over the line where it meets the oil line adapter.  Oil ran down the frame and I noticed it sprayed the exhaust pipes and rear wheel.  >:(

Just when I thought I could just start to enjoy riding its back to work on her again.  But my problems came in two...I began to look the bike over for any other problems and noticed I have a bad leak of fork fluid coming from the left fork.   Fork oil has ran down and coated the back of the fork.  Its my fault though...I knew I shouldve replaced the seals even though they weren't leaking when I got her.

New set on the way.  Didnt mean to drag this post out so long.
