led turn signals
« on: August 03, 2009, 10:44:53 pm »
im thinking of using these led's ( the single light units)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170368202423&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&salenotsupported as turn signals on my project bike, they claim that they are 1200 mcd,
they are very small which is good but i have no idea how bright they actually are
has anybody used these ? or does anybody know enough about led's to tell me if these would make good turn signals or not ?
                                 thanks
Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

Well they sure look cool, and holy crap they're small! Are you gonna mount these to the headlight brackets some how?

Yeah I'm interested in seeing how you would mount these. Were you planning front or rear? Would be kinda neat to incorporate these in the stock signals somehow..

1200mcd isn't very bright, I'm sure the optics will help change the way they appear though.  $28.50 for two LEDs seems pretty steep.

My first thought was to go to:  www.superbrightleds.com

They have this one that puts out 12,000 mcd for $.59 each  it's just the led, no optics or mount, but those are available too, just look around.

I've seen 10 candella rated LEDs at a local electronics store for $5 or $6 each that have a brightness warning on the package even!

If you want the best deal on these, try going directly to the maker.  These are 21.95 there.
