Bryanj's tip on fitting a 550 motor on a 500 got me thinking.....
Did a quick check and at least in italy, 500's were sold up to 1978! This 1978 example has indeed a 550 clutch mechanism, locking gas cap cover, odd badges and paint scheme, yet is original save for the SITO pipes.
Early on i thought that this was related to a taarif law but at the time, the italin gov set a minimum limit of 380cc for imports, not 500.
any other countries have such "late" 500's?
