Start OD: ???
End OD:  ??
Total: ?

Very late morning. Washed our bikes at a car wash, had breakfast and back to the house./
Headed into Surgis for a day of bars and shopping ;D

Hang on, because I was wide eyed today.

Sturgis by day.

These wheels and tires are getting out of hand.
I rode a "Victory" Earlier in the day with a tire the size of the one on the right below and you actualy have to turn the bars like a car on the corners ::)

As last night, topless women where ever you turn?

Eyeballs :)

Howard was very keen on this product ???

A bit of stunt riding..............

Posting before crash ;)

I'll carry on ;)

Did you say wet T-shirt contest?
Sorry "Mom" has to be done. Both my Mom and Sisters are watching this thread ;)

Good fun had by all..............

Antler Rat Bike.

Coolest Fire Truck I ever saw!

How can you not take a picture?

Same bar........

John Deer out on the road.

Decided that having an "old school" pin striper do a small "Sturgis 09" would look good on the tank  8)

Another Bar.................

We went upstairs ;) ..........Hey there Jerry....how ya doing? ;D ;D ;D ;D

On the sidewalk....a Dog a Cat and a Mouse ???

We left early at 10:30 or so. Me still looking bewildered  ;D ;D ;D

That poor girl didn't have clothes. I had to donate a few dollar bills towards her fund. Gotta say those hoots sure smelled nice and tasted salty!  ;D

Aug 3rd
Start OD: ???
End OD:  ??
Total: 7 hours.......

Out by 9:15.  Tons of twisty roads today, what a hoot!
Off to Mount Rushmore.

Ya, you try and pull out your camera with gloves on and take a photo while riding through holes in mountains ;)

As we got closer, we pulled over and I had no idea why...... until I turned around ;)

The Gates.

We all made it this far...................

Just another quite beer stop ::)

OK, here is an Epic moment for me.
The roads were so twisty that following the harley train was getting boring. The boys rode a head and I waited for 5 min's till a car started to come up behind me. I took off with a sense of urgency for speed.........Great fun for a bit and then I see a "SLOW TO 10MPH" sign...........................

.................. Hanging off the right side of the bike as far as I could I slid into the wrong lane!!!!!!!!!!!!   You can not get away with this error this week!!!!!!!  To many cars!!!!!!!To Many Bikes!!!!!!!!!!!  My BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So,........ Jerry and Howard had stopped just around this corner to wait for me with cameras at the ready. Little did they know they would see me skiiiiiiiiid into the outside lane sideways, gather up all the poo in my hands and then scoot out of the way of the oncoming VAN!!!!!!!!!

1st photo is a wide ange just as I was gathering up 450 lbs of sideways slide.
2nd photo is a bit cropped to see how close it was.
3rd photo is 1.2 seconds later as I made it through with all my limbs still intact :o

As I pulled over, I heard a guy on a bike behind me saying "Dead man riding a bike".........

That comment sunk in and it never happened again. Even old guys can learn ;)

Life is good to me...what can I say ;)

I speak from experience.  Nothing messes up a bike trip like screwing the pooch far from home.  A crash is bad enough, but having to make your buddies pick up the pieces and deal with the aftermath is worse.  Glad you made it through OK.  The temptation to have too much fun is always there.

I have gone into a controlled slide to the left a couple of times and have found it a good tool to have in the quick avoidance "tool box"

Slide sideways away from the danger, in this case it was really the cliff, not the van. After gathering it up it's a quick weight change and a blip on the throttle and you may just miss what's there. :o

This was my 1st "RIGHT SLIDE" everything is wrong........... rear break is now to low and under for your right foot to comfortably feather it to come back up as you need.

I looked at those photos again tonight and it still spooks me out.
A bit of track time sure can come in handy ;D ;D

Yeah, and that 16" rear was squealing too!

Not too far from where I got taken out head on almost 7 years ago to the day. I had to be carted off in the meat wagon then driven home. WAY too much traffic to play. Derek got a mild lecture from me too. He quit his road racing antics after that. Good thing we had a washer and dryer  ;)

Good stories and photos so far....keep them coming!

And it takes a lot to admit your mistakes on a public forum (with photographic evidence  ;)).

Yea if you look at the first picture the van has brake lights on, just the drivers side rear brake light seems to be out. Glad no one was hurt also.

When we got back to the house around 7:00PM we were hungry and tired. I went around the corner and picked up a pizza and we ate at the house.

Jerry fell asleep in a chair and howard went for a nap as well.

Jerry and I went out later to a local Spearfish bar and we called it a night at Midnight.

One guy jumped out in front of me and yelled, "That's a 750 isn't it!"  I said yes and quickly caught back up again.

I love the reaction these bikes get, I've heard so many stories from random people because of this bike. One was a homeless panhandler who called it out right away as I pulled up to Colfax and Broadway. "Oh man, that's a 74 huh? I used to have one of those, I remember one time I took like six hits of acid and rode it around. It was like a symphony of sights and sounds all playing for me man"... I wasn't quite sure what to say so I laughed and said "Nice!". Another time this guy was like "Nice bike man, I used to have one of those. My girlfriend loved riding on it. I crashed it under a bridge and she died... haven't ridden a bike since". To that, I had no response, I was literally speechless. What do you say to that?  ???

Also makes me think of my friends bike. He has a 2008 Triumph Bonneville that I advised him against getting. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice bike but why get a copy of the original when you can get the original for two thirds the price? He finally understood my point after about the fifteenth time somebody got all excited and went "Man I love old brittish bikes, what year is that?" only to completely lose interest when he responded with "2008"... Makes me giggle though, does that make me a bad friend? :P

Back on topic, I was half way planning on a sturgis trip this summer until I blew out my transmission. Maybe I'll make it up there some day when I get one of my bikes running and driving.

I think after a few seconds of silence I said something like that. It was just out of left field because he was so happy until the last part. Just completely caught me off gaurd.

The Full Throttle Saloon

What can I say, the worlds biggest biker bar!
This is how they say hello at the front door ;D

1st of a few live concerts going on when we arrived.

It's HUGE!!!!!!!

Remember this photo, ........in a day or so I (will) dump my bike down in the mud twice here in front of thousands of spectators during a rain/hailstorm ;)  There will be a test at the end of all this.

Never quite understood this, but you could ride your bike into the "Burn out Box" and ruin your rear tire..  Fun to watch when it's someone else.

Yup, it's Midget wrestling :o

Toooo  much......... ;D  Ya, can I have another Bud please?

Upload before computer crash......
