Notice the stripper pole in the nike seat
Off to the Broken Spoke Saloon before it rains.
Just started to rain as we got there so I left my bike inside the bar with the show bikes on display.
More interesting things to look at
As I mentioned earlier there was a custom bike show going on in this bar and I had the opportunity to meet Ron Finch.
The bikes were lined up in front of the stage. Here are some photos.
OH WHO IS THAT NOW
That's right the owner of the bar thought my bike belonged to "Mark" The owner of the Ace Cafe in London. He was in town that week.
I explained that......... no, it was my bike and he said
"Go put you bike up with the rest of the custom builders and give this place some class"
Me beside Ron Finch build
Who's the happiest guy in the bar right now?
For sure one of my Sturgis Highlights
We stayed for a few hours and walked around a bit.
That's right......live band by the heated pool and hot tubs.....
Howard comparing wallet chains with one of Billy Lanes guys.
As we were leaving the bar Dave Cook..another builder with a bike on display showed up on one of his customs. It was cool to see a guy riding out in the rain and mud on one of his builds.
So we move on to the Full Throttle saloon.
Now it rained where we were, but here it hailed. 2000 car windshields were blown out and more bike damage than you could count.
This is hail from 2 hours before we arrived, it had melted
Since my bike was still clean due to leaving it inside at the last bar, I decided I would ride into this bar through the insde grounds and under one of the bridges you saw earlier.
BAD DECISION!!!! The grounds inside the bar were of course now thick MUD!
I realized within the 1st 50 ft that I was in trouble and resigned myself to dumping my bike in the mud in my attempt to make it up the hill. I did not have long to wait.....CRASHED into the mud on the right side much to the amusement of the 2000 or so people watching. A few guys came out and helped me get it back up and I continued on my impossible journey through the mud with the dry ground under the bridge seemingly within reach.
NOPE, dumped it again to the roar of the crowd who were no cheering me on at this point! Again a few guys helped me get it back on the wheels again Not to be dissuaded I continued without further problems to a huge applause from the crowd. OK so one guy kind of pushed.
The aftermath
One moment your in a bike show, the next you are riding what looks like a John Deer
An Epic way to end your last night in Sturgis
It took all 3 of us 20-30 mins to scrape enough mud out of the front wheel with popsicle sticks to get me out of there
Time to go back to the house and get some sleep, we are all leaving the next day.
See Ya. Hope you enjoyed the 7th of Aug as much I did
