Hmmm seems it's dependant on where you live in the world as to how much they steal off you.
I don't yet have any insurance on my bike, not even third party (those I might hit
) so my costs are simply road tax and compulsory Accident Compensation Commision levies.
I looked into getting comprehensive insurance for my bike and even though I have house/contents/car/boat/life/work insurance hardly any company wanted to insure my old bike?
The two I got quotes from were in the $250 a year range, so that's $321 for registration plus $250 for insurance= $571 for just one bike! (bike cost $1400 to buy and is probably worth $3000 max)
I have been riding/driving since my 15th birthday and (touch wood) I have not yet had a serious accident in 37 years, no claims...nothing!
37 years of no claims you would think that was a record worth having wouldn't you?
I hate to think of all the money over the years I have donated to insurance companies, I guess it's like a raffle you don't want to win but you gotta buy a ticket anyway.
Anyway thanks for the input guys, I'll still tap up the pollies to see if getting a "classic" designation is a flier.
