Anyone know of a place that relines helmets in the northern VA/DC area?

I have to agree.  If it's old enough that it needs a new liner then it's time for a new helmet.

The standard brands usually have liners available.  I've bought liners for Shoei and Scorpion helmets.  They usually just snap in.

Why do you need to replace it?

Good question.  I was just assuming age, but there could always be other reasons.

I have a new old stock (NOS) helmet that I like a lot.  The outside is in perfect shape but the lining (being fabric) has deteriorated some.  Plus, I'd like to have it relined so that it's a little more snug.

The high density foam that protects your noggin deteriorates with age too...

Roy, if it's that old that the lining has deteriorated, the shell will be toast as well despite how good it might look.
You can get good cheap helmets, you can't get good new heads when the the old one gets damaged.

Anyone who relines your helmet also accepts responsibility for its continued safety approvals.  No lawyer or insurance company is going to allow that in their liability ins. offering.

I wanted to reline my helmets, too.  But, no one is stupid enough to accept the risk of you or your family suing them after having your brain damaged in a crash (or worse).

Sam and Lloyd are both right.

I have only replaced linings to adjust the fit (in my nearly new Scorpion), or because it got grungy after a fairly sort time.  If this thing aged just sitting around, then I wouldn't bet my life on the integrity of the foam protective core, either.

Not long ago a threw out an old, classic Bell helmet for just that reason.

Thanks guys.  I appreciate everyone's responses and looking out for me.  I'll just stick with new helmets I guess and ditch that older one (even though I love it...sniff sniff)
