Great to see it's still going well. I have a bit of a plan to build something similar, 400f based too, I even picked up a front end at an autojumble not long back. Just wondering, does it feel very top heavy to ride?

Thanks Guys

I have a few fettles to do. . . . . which is a constant thing with old bikes  ;)

The rear shocks needing a rebuild, might take an inch of travel out of the suspension as well.

It just keeps going so well.

love your work, hadn't seen this thread before

i'm doing something disturbingly similar with a K7 750, its getting closer week by week with a lot of help from Terry who made you the oil cooler adapter all those years ago

like you i'm trying not to chop the frame though i will probably chop a few brackets off like the airbox ones and stuff.

its got XR front and back guards, unknown aftermarket plastic tank, chopper fork tubes with CB900 lowers and triples, 4 piston supermotard caliper and VFR750 disc redrilled to fit the stock hub. i've made bearclaw footpegs, modern fatbar conversion, XR600 mini fairing and front master cylinder ( which may get replaced with a huge radial one depending on how crap the front brake is), LED headlight, 4 into 1 headers with supertrapp muffler, made a dash panel from alloy sheet with idiot lights, battery isolator instead of a normal key and a GPS speedo, got rid of the electric start so much smaller battery in a cut down battery box which has been moved across the frame so the battery is exposed where the side cover would normally be, modern rec/reg on the back of the battery box with modern blade fuse holder and flasher can mounted above the battery, made my own chain guard as the original was missing

left to do is recover the seat, wiring, paint, rear shocks, oil cooler and probably a hundred other things

i'm probably only a few hundred dollars into it as the donor bike was free, and a fair bit of the cost has been on shiny new stainless nuts and bolts ( i hate using old hardware )

i'll put a couple of pictures up later as i'm at work and don't have any pictures on this computer
i blame Terry

Yes Terry was very generous with my build.

Looking forward to seeing you build photo's as we all tackle things differently :)

I'm looking for a cheap 350/4 motor to have some fu with too ;)

I'm also needing to update my headers as they are rusting through. I have a line on a set of 250 bandit stainless headers and a good mate who will make them look like the original for me.

Here it is, most of the bodywork is just sitting on it so it looks very undone ( which of course it is )
Just got the yellow side covers yesterday so they need trimming and fitting
i blame Terry

Mine's at a much earlier stage, I can dig a frame out of my stuff and enough parts to build a motor (probably stock, but maybe not), and I have this front end that I bought. I haven't decided on wheel sizes yet, I'm wondering whether 19 or 21 front, I will probably stick with 18 rear but fit a wider alloy rim to the standard hub

Mine, being a K7, has the 17" back wheel.
This whole build started after I bought a pair of tyres on eBay for $10, they were brand new set for a BMW F650GS, I bought them thinking one of my mates would want them for their dirt bike. Then I got given the K7, which by coincidence they fitted, a stupid plan was hatched
i blame Terry

How many times does that happen . . . . LOL

I get a frame part and away I go building a bike . . . .

This started with a RV125 frame and became this with a PE175 motor . . . . which currently getting a DR200 motor inserted.
