Henry Abe
« on: August 27, 2009, 04:31:06 pm »
Anyone compiled a list of all the Henry Abe CB750 accessories? I have a really nice HA aircleaner replacement - foam element, swisscheesed enclosure AND built in velocity stacks just like the stock airbox.

Would accessories include my NOS 900 kit?  ;)

Aluminum wheels, and valve adjuster covers. RR

Are the ABE wheels valuable? To be honest I am quite ignorant but there is a '72 on CL local to me for $1500 apparently with an 836 kit and ABE mags.

Any thoughts?

I've seen 2 sets go through ebay (one pretty recent).  The front ones go for around 700.  The rears are far less..  The one in the above picture is a 16".  I rode them for a while but with a 16 rear you might as well take the center stand off :).  It is a pain in the ya ya to get the bike on the center stand.

Quick it is going fast       http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220469501456&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

At $500 with 6 hours to go. THAT'S A STEAL especially with the rods but I wouldn't use the rods with a 900. When was the last time you saw a NOS 900 kit complete? Better grab it. I paid more than that for mine without the rods.

That bike may have potential, and there is probably wiggle room. Would spend more in parts and maybe something in the box  ???   http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/drh/mcy/1345475837.html

Why are the HENRY ABE wheels worth more than a set of SHELBY DOWD rims ?  I went into my garage and compared the two and i think the shelby dowd looks cleaner.

$ 700.00 For a front HENRY ABE !!   :o    Hell I'll sell mine for $ 375.00   ;D

Or trade for a RC angle drive for a distributor !   ;D

Yeah would definitely need to change out the bars! They seem out of place...and definitely some paint on the tins!

hmmm....I dunno if I can swing it. Wish I wasn't so damn broke right now!

but it does have some potential....man I can't seem to shake it! I live in Whitby where the seller is...maybe I should flip him an email and at least go check it out? Couldn't hurt right?

Would be a way better project than the CX500 sitting in the garage...

If everything in the ad is correct, I believe that bike to be worth the money.  The first thing you could do is sell the wheels and pick up stock ones for a song and a dance.

Heck,
  • 836
  • dual disks
  • ported head
  • box 'o parts

So, we're at $800 or less out of pocket (after selling the wheels) for the above.  hmmmm.

The HA 's probably bring more $ because they bolt on. Most of the SD 's (all the SD's I have seen) convert the rear brake to disc and aren't as bolt on as the HA 's.

Please post pics of Henry Abe stuff. I am working on putting pics of aftermarket items on my web page to have a reference to determine what is what.
Started with a wheels page (I have more pics to post)

He won't budge on price...I tried when it first came out........also to note that the starter motor doesn't work....the tranny doesn't hold in second gear and the carbs need work.....still verrrry tempting.
Steve

I am interesting in this bike - would be coming from Boston, MA and needing to ride it back. What kind of work do the carbs need? Does it run? Could it make it! ;-)

thanks
Andy

Andy if you pull the trigger on it it must be fairly close to my place so if you need a garage to give it a once over my garage is always open. My tool supply is ok for basic maintenance etc. I don't have much in parts but there are a few places around here.

I assume CDN since it is listed locally...so that would put it just below $1400 USD currently.

Have you imported bikes from Canada before? Is it just that easy? Or do you just bring a plate from home and throw that on and hope for the best?
