I'm a newbe to the Japanese vintage bike scene and this project fell into my lap and i couldn't pass it up. Although I'm not new around a bike I have some questions before i start really tearing into the bike and cutting things off.
Currently the bike is striped down to where the only items left bolted are the motor and front and rear suspension, I've taken very good care not to cut anything, but to remove it intact. Here are some basic questions that I have right now, most to start planing out what to replace and what to refurbish.
1. Rearsets- I'm trying to get a very sporty feel from the bike and with the after market tank and seat combo i have picked out (BCR dolphin seat and tank) the seating position will be pushed further to the back. Is there a kit or mod that can provide a more aggressive foot control position.
2. I'm a bike guy and would like to upgrade the at the very least the front brakes and suspension, i would like to keep the overall vintage look and don't have the space to do major mods to get a modern front end on the bike.
3. Does anyone sell a compete rebuild kit with good high performance parts.
4. Carbs- Mikuni vs. rebuild stock. Which provides the best hp gain.
5. Electrics- I'm going for a very clean look and would like to keep and battery, regulator/recif hidden under the rear cowl. I have seen this but only on the finished product, does anyone have pictures on how this can be done. Also, I plan on going to kick start only and would like to know if there is a reference to a very basic wiring diagram.
Any other suggestions/feed back is welcome. I will post pictures ASAP.
