78 CB750K Carb question
« on: December 01, 2005, 06:49:25 AM »
Well with the winter here I decided to put my 78k to bed and do a few things over the winter...project number one is another thorough cleaning of the carbs as I had some idling issues (had to run choke on so I assumed a clogged idle jet). After tearing into them I realized I was right and I had a couple partially clogged jets...cleaned em and went to put it all back together and I realized that the accelerator pump has a little rubber thing that goes around the shaft as it passes through the number 2 carb. Well this little rubber piece is virtually disintegrated.

I had a look through my manuals and it does not give me a name or part number for it. I assume it's just a dust boot or something similar to prevent it from getting bunged up with dirt but can anyone confirm this? Also a real name for it or ideally a part number would also be helpful so that I can track down a replacement...interesting to note that when I bought a new accelerator pump kit it did not come with this little rubber part as part of the kit...

Thanks,
Dennis

Where did you get the pump from? I got one from parts n more that came with the piece.

The pump I got seems to fit good and I will be doing carb work this winter also. I just want to go through everything since i will be getting new coils and such. Might as well make sure everything is good.

The local Honda Dealer (i'm very impatient when it comes to ordering parts during the summer months! and they deliver receive most items next day)...not sure why it wasn't in there...All I received was the pump/diaphragm...

Any thoughts on whether I can get it seperately or what the heck it's called?

One more thing...what size is the fuel line? I'm at work and was going to order new line and filters on the net but don't remember what the correct size is....

Thanks,
Dennis
