cb350f with a 400f kickstart shaft?
« on: September 03, 2009, 11:00:59 AM »
alright, so i have had this 73 cb350f for quite some time now thats been half way to three quarters of the way on the back burner.  i bought it for cheap while saving for another project and im getting to the point here in the next month or so to start in on the 350 and wrap it up this winter.  the title of the post is what im trying to get at and see if anyone else has done the same as i have.  the bike has cb400 foot pegs, shifter with linkage and brake arm on it.  the problem lies in the kickstarter now.  the stock 350 kick starter shaft isnt long enough to clear the new(ish) 400 pegs which i want to run because they are sorta stock rear sets compared to the 350s pegs... sooo, my question is can that kick start shaft be swapped out when i find a junked cb400 to pull one from?  thanks in advance for any and all advice help and or hints.  thanks, lee.

I just checked the part numbers for the 350f and 400f kickstart spindle. They are exactly the same. I don't think the 400f's is longer. I had a similar issue with my kickstarter rubbing my 350f's exhaust. I put in a 400f engine, and problem solved  ;). The cases for the 400f are wider, I assume to allow for the sixth gear, so the kickstarter sticks out further.
