If it is original and it is either a 1975 or 1976 CB550F then it is called Candy Sapphire Blue.  If it is a 1977 CB550F then it is called Candy Sword Blue. From the Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide 1959-1998.

Looking at the picture I would say it is either a 75 or a 76.

You can get the side cover decals from Z1enterprises.com.  I am not seeing the tank decals there, unless they're the same as the 550k.

For the same reason today........... No paint has the depth that candy has, done correctly.

And for that era it was really considered a cool paint to have that metal flake shine back at you. Remember the old Pearl Flip-Flop paint? I painted my 1969 GTO with that. It would turn from a red, to copper color and other color depending on the lighting. I finally did restore that GTO back to OEM, but it was fun back in the day with those new colors.

or your base can be a pearl, or tint your base the same as top coat color also.

Many of the Schwinn bicycles from that time period were manufactured with attractive candy colors such as: Sky Blue, Radiant Coppertone, Campus Green, Flamboyant Cardinal Red, Sierra Brown, etc. Schwinn used an aluminum basecoat instead of a silver basecoat. Some of those colors found their way into the custom chopper scene.
