I am having some problems with my choke cable. When pull the choke cable it works good but when I push the knob back in I get this happening:

Is there supposed to be a break like here in the pic? When I hold it together with my hands it seems to work fine

I just bought a new choke cable for my K7 last year and I dont remember it separating in that spot. Seems like it would hang up on you.

No, it is supposed to be attached. New ones run about $18.00 USD.

...if I could parachute in a related quirey, does the choke knob 'lock' with a twist. Also shold a new have the same function?

You can adjust the tension of the pull on the cable, if that makes sense so when you pull the cable, it stays where you want it. The adjustment can be made where the choke knob attaches to the triple tree.

Thanks Johnny, the after market cable has no such delice and the original is very worn. The finger hold it up seems to work. Not conducive to the bump start, not enough hands.

Is it part of the cable or part of the choke knob? This seems like a glueable fix

You can tighten it with a twist
