stuck cam chain adjuster

what is the best way to free up the cam tensioner screw on the adjuster? am I going to need a partial teardown.this is on a 74 cb550

Depends on how it is stuck.  Does the stud not turn?  Does the lock nut not back out?  Are the stud and lock nut fused together?

how much of a teardown do you plan to do?  If you are taking the cylinder block off, then you may want to consider replacing the tensioner completely.  You'll most likely wana replace the blade anyway, and the whole unit is only $50 more.  Honda still sells it.

What makes you think it aint free, i never seen one siezed yet
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
