He was one of the good ones.  He did hang in there for quite a while.  Few survive that kind of cancer.

Maybe that's so Fuzz, but to me it has a deeper meaning. He wasn't just another celebrity, he was another human being that succumbed to another form of the dreaded, cancer.  Just like Swayze, in Jan. of 2008 my uncle was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He hung on till Jan. of this year, dying just a few months short of what would have been his 60th birthday. Don't get me wrong Fuzzy, I don't take offense at your post, but I think you should realize that cancer sucks, celebrity or not.

I agree...not just another celeb. He played the common man and he turned out to be one. My dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer in Jan 04 and in July of 04 after 5 months of chemo treatments it was pronounce as terminal. Given 2-3 months at the most, my dad stayed with us until May of 05. Right now, a friend is going through Patrick's problem and she will probably not see the end of the year. CANCER BAD...... I agree, if only it was that easy. I work for a major pharma company and I can tell you the biggest road block is the gov regulations, needed or not they constantly get in the way.

Patric Swayze was one of my mother-in-law's favorite actors..  I think it is kind of ironic that they both succumbed to the same form of cancer(pancreatic).  I am glad to see he stayed optimistic until the end..  Pancreatic cancer takes your loved ones so fast after they are diagnosed and the end was so painful to watch(3 months in her case)   :(.  Mr. Swayze will be missed, and I think I will be unearthing her "Dirty Dancing" VHS in memory of them both.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Swayze, and all of our loved ones who have had their lives snuffed out by this horrid disease.. you will be missed by many.

not really a fan but i respected and admired the way in which he faced his battle. he proved to be more of a man than any of the tough guys he played.

sad news indeed. rip.

and i nursed my wife for 2 years through colon and uterine cancer, lost my sister in 1980 to it, lost my dad in 2003 to lung cancer. i guess i wasnt saying "so what if he died of cancer" it was more of a "look at all the regular folks that die from cancer every day that never get any recognition. i would never ever trivialize anyone dying of this horrible disease.
oh yeah, he made a great looking woman in "To Wong Fu"  ;D

Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

Truly sad about Patrick Swayze, I've only seen him in a few movies, but I liked his style. Yeah, Cancer (in one form or another) has taken a pretty heavy toll over the years. Too bad! :(

                                          RIP Patrick! :-\

He did "play" a kid in Red Dawn, but he was actually 32 at the time.

I can find out, but if you walk into a book store and ask for Patrick Swayze's book, I doubt that there will be more than one to choose from.
