Tire hop at 60km's

Hi guys i have a unusual proplem,at 60 km's or 40 mph it feels like my front end hops.It does not happen below or above 60k.The bike was sitting for some 20 years (maybe flat spot on tires)and i will try balanceing the tires tonight but is there something else i should look at?Thanks

replace the tyre - simple - it is no good if it is 20 years old..

+1. If you dont though...check your tire pressure. This was the cause of my front end hop at 40 mph.

Also check your chain and sprokets, you'd be surprised how bad a bike will feel with worn out chain and sprokets. When I first got mine it had such a wooble to it it was almost scarey to ride. I replaced triple tree berings and tires, which I'm glad I did but it still had the shimmy. Once I put a new chain and sprokets on it was like a different bike.

Good advice. A few stiff or frozen links can be dangerous.
