cb550 oil drain plug

Where is the oil drain plug on my 1976 cb550, and how much oild does it get when I refill it?

See the sticky at the top of this forum and download the manual for your bike. It has all the info you need.

Should be a 17mm plug & 3.2qts. Make sure you use a Motorcycle type oil for proper clutch operation.

Read the current oil thread for proper oil types and substitutes for high dollar motorcycle oil.

just do a search for "oil" and you will come up with eighteen million posts with everyone's opinions. the bottom line seems to be don't run synthetic, and more zinc is better.

"Many on here laugh at the idea, but I, like you use it. You just have to do a little homework and stay away from the ones that are all proud of their friction modifiers. Great in a car, but not so good for our wet sump systems. You also may have to change the oil a little sooner than you would with the high dollar shop oil. I recommend Chevron Delo 400, Delvac 1300, or Shell Rotella in 15W40 weight."
