Stranded in Indio, can anyone trailer to Glendale?
« on: September 25, 2009, 07:51:32 PM »
Day 8 of cross country trip from little rock Arkansas to Los Angeles and we're stranded in Indio. Anyone in Indio able to triler a bike to Glendale for cost of gas plus some extra?

You guys might need to double up and get a little snuggly for the rest of the trip.  :D

Hope you find some help.  Is the bike fixable?

That Sucks  :-\

Can't help, as I'm in Indiana. But this'll keep the post at the top of the list.

the 550 is running awesome, it's the 81 cx500 again. Bogging, no power, will start and barely put along. Checked almost everything I can think of, need to get out of this hotel and really tear into it. Thanks guys!

Checked stuff: coils firing, new plugs and caps, all within resistance specs. Clean filter, tested stator/pulser, getting fuel, jets and floats ok, valves adjusted

Did I ask if the exhaust is plugged yet?

Wish I'd come-up with plugged exhaust !, especially after how many miles rode on this trip already? Old bike + carbon + rusting-out exhaust innards = very possible cause IMO....

Try revving the bike with your hand over the exhaust, pressure should increase , right ? Does the bike ( exhaust ) sound quieter than usual ? If the owner doesn't care I think I'd get a big screwdriver and bust thru' the end of the baffle in the exhaust anyway, the CX 4 into 2 is real quiet, lots of baffling in there.... IMO.
Also is the battery O.K. ?, holding-up and charging good ? Wish I could help with a trailer, but some ideas to keep it at the top of the page !!

I know you guys replaced the stator only recently but also sounds like it could be not providing enough output..
I know there is a fix for low/voltage coils on the stator - will find a link and post it here...

That's very interesting stuff, so a "white wire" fix is possible but not a "blue wire" fix.
Dang Boxnife I wouldn't want to be doing such drastic surgery so far from home unless it is the only way.
Good luck mate, all the way from New Zealand. :)

Andy, is there anywhere in the world where you don't "know Someone"?  You have more connections then an international Airport.

I wish you guys the best of luck.
