So, after all of the reading I have done here in the last few months, it would appear that I am fairly screwed if I want to change the direction that my seat opens?  I have a 750 K2, and I find it annoying that it wants to close on me all the time when on the center stand.  Nice design....

IS there an easy way to reverse this or does it involve welding new hinges and lock assembly?

I paint acrlic enamel on my bikes and cars.  We use something called reducer. Is that it?

Thanks, Ron

DO NOT use reducer to remove overspray.

As stated previously ......

Don't use thinners or any other solvent, or you'll cry yourself to sleep like a big girl for the next month, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Reducer would qualify as a "thinner or solvent".
It could damage your existing paint and I don't even want to think about what it might do to your seat upholstery.

One other option... there is a product called clay on the market for removing overspray. It is very mildly abrasive, probably less than polishing compound. It has the appearance of children's modeling clay. Ask for it where ever you purchase your detailing supplies, can't recall who makes the stuff.
Easy to use, wet surface with soapy water, rub with clay, wash and dry!

Mothers sells the " Clay Bar" mentioned above.
It is prob. the best product out their to remove overspray , and minor paint imperfections
on the market.

I always use the clay to totally clean off the paint on my car , before I do the entire
wax on - wax off deal. Insures you are starting off with the cleanest paint possibile....

Hey Guys,
the ebay seller bitsnbikes4u has been selling these seats for at least 2 years.
So he must have someone making them from scratch. They look good and
his ffeedback is +++.

Oh, when you catch him, send me a seat and I'll make it up to you someday.
unh huh... ;D

AAAAHH! thanks for the enlightenment Master Terry!   ;D ;D
tipping back a little port is something i definitely understand...

You're always welcome mate, I just "inherited" an old 1 gallon oak port barrell on a stand, it had dried out and the timber has shrunk, so I've had it soaking in water to re-swell the sucker, then I'm gonna empty all my various port bottles into it and maybe add a dash of whisky, then spend as much time "sampling" it as I can.

My wife has no love for old junk like this, so it'll probably live out in the garage with me and all my junky old bikes, where we'll care for it and make it feel welcome and wanted, ha ha! Cheers, "Problem Drinker" Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Dusterdude,

My bad bro.  I meant SIDE stand.  My K2 also opens left to right.  But, this makes it close on me when the bike is leaning to the left on the side stand.

Hence my desire to change it around if it isn't too difficult.

Logic does not enter into this discussion. Ergo, see posts by Terry.

Seat was changed because Hiroshi was multidextrious and ....

That's a bit harsh mate, I might be a 6'4" 260 pound monster who could stomp your French/Canadian ass all over the playground, then stuff your crumpled remains in the nearest trash can Michel, but I've still got feelings, and you just hurt them! :'(
