Rejetting for max power?
« on: September 27, 2009, 11:32:27 PM »
Maybe this should be in the general tech forum...

Awhile back I posted about installing the cycle x power up kit.  I unfortunately had less than spectacular results. (don't get discouraged, read on) I also had problems with the power arc ignition which was probably my fault, bad install. I put the points plate back on with some bad points as I boogered up the good points when I put the motor back in.  Now I am putting the power arc back in and decided to check my plugs, 1&4 are black and 2&3 are a whitish color.  I opened my carbs up and found that 3&4 have the needle at the same position.  I am assuming that the needles and jets on 1&4 are worn and should be replaced.

My question is, with a bigger cam, hot ignition, and 4-2-1 exhaust, should I just replace all the jets with stock sizes, or should I go up to a bigger size?

(unrelated...)
With the bad points it would run on 2 or 3 cylinders, occasionally hitting on all 4. when all 4 were going, it would pull pretty good in 5th. In firsth it feels like it wants to wheelie, but that might just be the goldwing forks aren't sprung for the lighter 750.

Apparently, when I had the fancy ignition in, it was running retarded, which was why it didn't run strong.

No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.
