I got exited but I think it is a scam...New Emails
« on: December 09, 2005, 02:22:48 PM »
I saw this item on ebay...I am posting all of the emails from this guy...ebay Item #...well I just tried to pull up the listing again but it is now gone..any way he was only taking "pre-approved" bids...what ever that is...so I had to email him...his email address is: kalipsio211@yahoo.com

First email:

I was going to bid on your bike but it wouldnt let me...

Don

His response:

Hello Don, thank you for your interest in my 2004 Suzuki Hayabusa GSXR 1300. The bike is in perfect condition, it has a US clear title and will come with the remainder of factory warranty. I am located in Canada and I have the bike with me. I will ship it from here on my expense through Delmas Air Cargo. The payment will be handled securely through Better Business Bureau. They will handle the financial part of this transaction, I will only take care of the shipping. If you want to make this purchase, the final price is $3199 US. I ask a little for this great bike, since I am passing through a divorce with my wife and I need to get rid of it fast. Send me your name and address so I can start the case with Better Business Bureau. They will contact you by email with instructions.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Nicholas Stanley

This is were I got worried...The listing was from TX and his ebay account was opend the day before with zero trades(?)...A very nice bike trailer was to be included in the deal...worth around $1000.00 itself...anyway I sent him this next email:

I have relitives all over canada. Where are you in the Big C? I would just have one of them pick the bike up for me and hand you the cash...

I got no response to that...I dont hae any relitives there but I wanted to see what his response would be...if he said ok than I would have paid a friend to drive and pick the bike up...a 2004 'Busa for 3 grand...too good to be true.  :'(

To the best of my knowledge the better business bureau does not do financial transactions. They are merely a complaint resolution mechanism between the public/companies. Can you say scam?

Scam...scam...scam.
The old adage "If something sounds too good to be true it usually is" applies. $3199USD for a 2004 Hayabusa???? You'd get the bodywork and a few more small parts for that amount.

There was an article on how some of the better scammers could frontpage some beautiful looking bank sites and others. I'd say this "Better Business Bureau" (who by the way do not deal in transactions, but are referees in transactions gone bad) is a very well done frontpage that is just a link to the scammer.
Run - run fast, run very very fast.

Unless you want to buy my 2008 Hayabusa for $3198. It's got negative 4000 miles on it.

It's clearly an scam. Do you remember the laughs we had with that guy selling a "seat pan"? after that, I decided to make those scammers lose their time. In the spanish ad pages there are lots of scams like that. They always ask to send the money via western union. I started to negotiate the price, and they willingly reduce the price without hesitation, because obviously there is no bike involved!!! I used to give a fake transfer number, and when they came back telling it was wrong, I apologized saying the "8" was a "6" and so on. Some of them stayed for three tries, but one of them really believed I had sent the money and came back for at lest 8 times!!!!

Yep, nothing like getting rid of them until after the damage is done... sounds like eBay.

Talking about a system that could really use some quality control. How the heck does a guy in Nigeria get to open an eBay account with a location in Texas and then pretend that he is from Canada.

This makes me wonder why I had to have all of my account information verified and scrutinized when I signed up for an account 6 or 7 years ago. Even though I've been burnt in the past, I still like eBay and will continue to conduct my side of the transactions I do there is a courteous and professional manner.

If I ever loose my job, my fear of god and my sense of morality though, I'm heading right for a new account on eBay! (Oh, and I'm heading for Nigeria because at least there I won't be scammed and my email inbox will be empty!) :o

I think anyone who for one minute thinks they can get a perfect  04 Hyabusa for $3000.00 and some change, should jump right on it and they deserve whatever they get. It's not even a question of  " Is it a scam?"

Perfect Hyabusa's are everywhere for $2000.00 to $3000.00 ... Ebay, CycleTrader, Local classifieds.

If you interested in any of these super deals... I have a bridge in Iowa in I will sell you for the remarkable low price of only $10,000.00
All you need to do is deposit $500.00 into my checking account and I will get the deal rolling.

I'm not sure who the real criminal is. The guy offering the scam, or the guy who reponds to it.

I have recived 2 more emails from this guy...they are "Better Business bureau" web site stuff...I dont think they are real but they look nice.

I wish I knew how to share them with you guys...He put a lot of time in this scam...any who here is another email:

Thank you for giving me your info. I will contact Better Business Bureau and i will start the process, they will keep your transfer information untill you receive and inspect the bike.
You will recive a notification from them with the steps you need to follow to complete the deal. Shipping is my part, I will handle it through Delmas Cargo Air and it will take 5 days at most for the bike to reach your location.
You won't have to pay anything when you will receive the bike, there's no tax or customs. I will mark it as Gift/Donation with the shipping company, even if that means an extra $50 on my expense.
Send me an email once you receive Better Business Bureau's notification so I know everything worked OK.
Thank you for your time and interest.
Sincerely,
Nicholas

on his other emails...the ones that "take" you to a BBB website he actually put links to the real BBB on his fake site...

Of course I dont think that this is real but I have known many people who when going though a divorce do some crazy #$%*...a guy my dad knows burned down a huge, brand new barn so he wouldnt have to give his wife half of its value, and I have more than a few freinds who said that they would give some of thier stuff away before they paid thier Ex's for it.

Hell... when my mother left my father he lost is mind. and I am not kidding...he went fu(king nuts for about 2 months.

A brand new 'Busa is about $11000.00 at a dealership... most on Ebay sell for between 7000 and 9000...it is not inconceivable...not likely...but not impossible... not during a divorce.

If it sounds too good to be true, as the old saying goes....

Well a while back, many many moons ago, a friend got married. He had bad credit and a bad driving record,
so he bought a bike  New Yamaha XS1100 in his wife's name. Paid cash in full. 3 months later she kicked him
out and sold the xs1100 for $500.

My point is it does happen, BUT, be weary of anyone whom kan't sppeell correctly from the BBB.
This suction Sounds like a scam
good luck
