I'm still smiling. If I had good tires I'd ride it to my guitar lesson tomorrow.  In a few hours I could have the K81's and the lester mags on it. Who needs to sleep when there's a bike waiting to be ridden?

This is today in Ophiem Illinois. Note the K2 fork ears and headlight bucket. Courtesy of the fine folks here. Not the picture I wanted but it keeps pasting this one so Oh well.
I like the look of your bike so far, 
Your KO looks some what like my Black K2, The Gold one is a NO # Diecast K0, The orange one is a K0 also with a bit of RC parts Thats taking me forever to get together!

I know, for the purists, For the KO's I have two nice Ducktail seats that I haven't put on because four just riding around they are to nice.

Wait, maybe these are sandcast too! I have to laugh at the things on Ebay that are tagged as sandcast.
Head, I may do the same thing, the foam is a little flat on the duckail seat but my repo seat fom the black bike would slip right on. This bike needs to be ridden somehow.
 The (original?) chain even cleaned up nicely, but it's going in a box, this thing still has the 16 and 43 tooth sprockets. I'd prefer to keep the cases intact. It does have the case saver inside.

Today I found some time to replace a rear turn signal socket. It was corroded with a broken bulb in it. The glass is loose but it still blinks. Crazy. I have a box of parts and take-offs and was lucky to find a perfect socket and bulb so I just swapped then out and now it looks like the other ones inside.

The carbs seep and I have little patience for that so I'm going with the new float valves and possibly floats. I have some spare brass ones and a set of plastic if needed.  I use the clear tube method  to check fuel levels too.

 We took  the night off working on the funny car, so time for the Honda.

The carbs are done depending on how anal I am. Clear tube shows one float is a mm or two different. I might have to adjust it again.
 I rubbed skin so soft on the seat. I read it can soften the vinyl. Nothing much to lose. It looks great.
 I rebuilt the front brake caliper, the MC is working fine. It bled out very easy.

 It needs an air box and the tank put on and it's ready for a test ride. It snowed but the streets melted off so there's no road salt yet. Maybe a sneak ride around the neighborhood. Or two.

   Edit:  I used the Avon skin so soft bath oil on the seat cover, later I replaced the red foam and it's now 2022 and I'm still on that same seat cover.

On the K0 I had the previous owner tried taking the air box apart without softening the rubbers, cracked what had been a perfect box. I had a spare later model one and used it as authenticity did not matter much to me because many other original parts had been replaced. It was one of the better performing  750s I owned,  sold it for 2000 and a Suzuki S32.  Still haven't ridden it yet Don?...Larry

No, the funny car project and baby sitting my granddaughter 3 days a week have slowed progress. Her sitter had a baby. two more weeks. Then I'll have time to miss her.
  About 12 more tube notches on the funny car then it's mostly welding. I decided not to put on my repro airbox just yet. I'd love to find a nice used sidecover or two with slightly faded paint. I ordered my parts locally, I need to drive 30 miles and pay more but he knows everything and has his old shop full of parts I get to dig through once in a while.

Ride Report, It starts and runs beautifully. I still have the lowering blocks on it and like the way it sits for now. The front tire belongs on a clown car though.  I think it sat flat a little too long. Too bad, it wants to run!

On the to do list, a new chain. Tires and a left sidecover, possibly both.  I put the DSS repro airbox on still in black.  I'm going to repair the stock one and paint the repro too.

I had an old centerstand that was frozen to it's tube. I noticed it was cut and welded to narrow it, so I heated it up with a torch and pressed out the center tube. I had a correctly sized piece of chrome moly from our race car project so I drilled out the center stand and slipped the moly into it. It fits the chassis bracket perfectly and if I let the centerstand move to the side a little it fits neatly under the Hooker 4 into 2 mufflers. Viola! Next it needs a spring and c extension.
 I took this opportunity to remove the lowering blocks too.

The centerstand needed a spacer, with the spring on it pulled over to the left and got in a bind. I made a tubing spacer and put it back together. Now it tucks neatly under the hooker muffler and fits well. If I was a corner carver it might drag but there's all the lean angle a sandy needs.  It's crazy to spend a lot of time when my goal is stock nono pipes but this was fairly easy and it will exchange with my K0 stand when/if the time comes.

When I removed them the lowering blocks had one allen bolt on the left due to clearance issues. The right side had a proper 8 head bolt. I searched through all my spare bolts and chose one that was newer and had the 8 that is a 0 with a line through it.
  Then, last night I was working on the K2 drag bike (same po) and low and behold there is the 8 head bolt from the sandcast in the back of the drag bike! Of course I swapped them, now both bikes have correct head bolts. Just a small detail but sometimes it's like there's some good karma going on here.

The sandcast got a new front tire and of course I noticed the original front wheel bearings. I pulled them as carefully as possible and they are junky. I ordered two full sets from all balls just for ease of getting them.  The rear rim was a little rusty inside so I brought it home for cleaning and inspection without mounting the tire. The front had a beautiful 2010 pirelli tube so I saved it from the scrap pile. The shop where it was stored must have repaired the flat original front tire but too late to save it from cracking.

Oh heck. I shot off my big mouth and now fellow from England has expressed intrest in buying 5511. I've got the tires going on, the sidecovers not painted yet and haven't ordered a replacement exhaust because that would mean selling it and I wasn't really ready yet. Carbs are clean, a slight bit or rust in the bottom of the tank, I was really wanting to ride it a while. I've been trying to put a finger on the market but I've been getting mixed results. Opinions?
 I know, I'll never own another one, especially this nice. Selling it could fund one of my car projects, I've owned them since 1970 and 1973.

Unless you Need the Money...keep it for a while.  I think interest is growing in them, and the prices are edging up.

 Anyway, I had a 16" rear wheel with a two hole hub that was on the sandcast, there is a two hole 18" rolled edge rim that came off the sandcast but put on the PO's dragbike.

  The rolled edge rim needs some chrome work so I took the 16" apart today, it will go on a 4 hole hub, then back on the dragbike.  Then I know wen the 18" sandcast rim it pretty it'll be on the proper hub with the cloverleaf cush drive.
 End result, sandcast returned to it's own parts, a beautiful 16" for the drag bike, some parts to scrap and a spare two hole hub.

 That's a fact. I sorted and boxed a lot of parts over the years. I'd spend a lot more $$$ and time tracking down all these missing/damaged parts if I dodn't have my shelved junkyard.

 I found Honda bearings in a stash I got with some parts I bought, I'll save the All Balls for the drag bike. The front bearings are in the wheels and it's ready to go back on. I took the real Honda sidecovers off my diecast and sent them to paint. Frankenbikes sidecovers will go back on the diecast. I wanted to rechrome the rear rim, it's not done yet then I'll lace it back upmount the tire and it's close to a ride. Rain this week will wash the road salt off, I hear thunder now. Maybe the diecast will venture outside.
