Here is a picture of my replacement cables, I could make more if anyone is interested.

I made the hot cable two seperate parts, the ends are crimped and soldered. I used a cut down distributor cap terminal for the rubber battery boot. The cable is #6 fine strand cable.

I know and thanks for the correction, but I'm a big fan of the hondaman book and I believe he puts them against the engine. Being a drag racer I ground the heads to each other, the frame and the battery. Of course the Honda ignition won't throw a spark to the piston top but once you have seen the effect of a poorly grounded engine it's hard to leave it stock. The cable end I did find is very similar to later 750 original, not perfect but better than a brittle grease soaked 40 year old one.
I'll have to look into that. Your cables (next post) look nice. I'd go for them had I not already purchased OEM from Yamiya.  :(

It's funny, it didn't even cross my mind to find new stock cables. I guess that says something about my thought process. Always trying to make something better, sometimes takes you the long way. When you are done is it really better? I really like the feel of this cable nice and flexible.

I think the ground is NLA, that's why i went Yamiya for big $$. Can't remember if the Pos is NLA or not.

Ron,

Are the Yamiya K or F cables?

Ron,

Are the Yamiya K or F cables?
They only do K parts, so unless its a crossover part number, it'd be a K. Their parts listing says K0 to K5.

But the more I think about it, i got those from Motogrid. The Pos cable is available, and the ground cable had a substitute part number that crosses with a Goldwing. When i got it the eye is obnoxiously large, but the length was OK. Think I wish I had bought the Yamiya part, the eye looks more like the original. But for twice the price.

Or, get one from Don R

But back to your question: Looking at a motogrid fish for a 75F, they both carry 392 center digits (not the 300) meaning they are somehow different and likely though not for sure, not crossable, and the 392s are NLA.

This one (K0) had a braided cable in a rubber cover, the ground was also braided. too bad they are wo nasty.  I have my F out in the shop, I'll compare them after my guitar lesson this afternoon.
I have a crashed F parted out too, I'll check that wiring for cables. I think the ground I used for a pattern was an F. it's a shame I can't match the ends perfectly,

The diff between a 300 and a 392 could just be a small amount of length. But there is some real difference or Honda would have just kept the 300 part number.

The positive cable that I suspect came from the F is very short. The solenoid was removed from the battery box so I'm not positive it's the one.

This is a piston in the 812 that was the second engine to live in this bike. It had a plugged exhaust and a stuck valve so I swapped in the 3rd engine, a stock bore motor. The head is mostly ported and has new stock valves. I would love a good performance valve job on it. I'm taking the pistons and cylinder to a machine shop for cleaning and measuring.
Edit, those pistons are in backwards. Notice the clearance cuts on the top for valve clearance. Not entirely successful.

This is from the 812 engine. I got a head gasket for the stock bore motor and now I can't find the base gasket.

These pistons are for an F2-3 don't belong in a K.

Edit, they are high comp pistons for a K, they were just put in backwards, the mark is to the back.

Just goes to show ya, can't believe anything a PO says. That sucks. So are you gonna bore it and throw in an eBay 836 kit?

Yes I am. I have the kit already. I  ported a head for it a while back but kept thinking of the stuck junk looking K0 engine in the corner. It would be a correct head for the bike and they may be a bit better in the ports and chambers. The rocker shafts rotate too. I started taking it apart and noticed aluminum retainers, then triple springs then another 812 kit. The cam had been switched to a later stock one and most of the threads need helicoils. then I peered into the intake port and Viola! it's ported too! The Honda gods were bound to shine on it sooner or later.

EDIT, it is not a correct head for 14,100 it has the added center bolt. It was original porting on a K0 head. I hadn't seen that before. I still haven't unstuck that K0 engine.

The local machine shops can't do the 65 mm bore, the hole starts too small. The bar doesn't fit. I'm avoiding the old fashioned bottom up boring bars. One said he could put cutters in his hone and do 10 or 20 thou. but not 4mm.
I keep getting referred to a guy I went to high school with. He can do it in his garage. He bought a small machine when the local yammy shop closed. I'm checking with him next. i'll need to be impressed when I talk to him. He's the cyl head guy too.

Triple spring and aluminum retainer. I think my brother wants this one back. Finders keepers.

This is the frame repair kit I got from I bikes it is only tacked in place. It will be finish welded this winter when the bike is apart. The tubes and braces were completely gone and the new center was cut from a wrecked 75f.
the before pic

I love those carbs!! Easy to work on and remove the slides.
Then Honda ruined them.

BTW....You have the carbs numbered backwards in the photo,
#1 should be on the left.

:') Good catch, a friend imposed that number system on me when the slides were put in reversed, then numbered Lol, that took a while to figure out! I now know they will fit backwards but work terribly.

Don, is that aluminum or titanium?!
They are possibly Ti, not sure how to tell the difference.

I would think aluminum would scratch easily, more so than Ti. I have my Ti buttoned up or I'd test them. PM guru Rieck. Most of the aluminum I've seen (pictures only) are anodized. 3 springs is overkill IMO but they'll close up without floating! May take away too much HP though??

My part time dragster driver is a pro Stock fabricator and works with titanium all the time I'll have him check them out when it's apart. doesn't matter anyway, my brother wants to use that head on his engine now that I took it apart and knocked the dirt off of it.
I have my old K4 head ported and the chambers modified anyway. I found a deal on some new stock valves, would have liked to increase the intake valve size but it's just a street cruizer anyway. I'm expecting a call about the machine work. The guides feel tight to me but I'll defer to they guy doing my machine work.

The cylinder is off to be bored, an old high school buddy. He's been working on bikes since I've known him. I trusted him with a very nice cylinder hope it comes out OK. His price seemed a bit high at $200 but he's local so no shipping or long drives required.

Gotta dig out alot of metal to get to 836. Several passes each hole. Some will overtax their bar to save time. Better to take it slow, smaller bites. Takes time. time = $$
