Broken Slow Jet In Carb Body!
« on: October 01, 2009, 02:08:28 pm »
I was screwing in my slow jet and I guess I overtightened it and it broke off inside the carb body. I assume this has happened to someone in the world before.I was wondering what is the best method to get this thing out or do I need to buy a whole new carb body? I was thinking I might try a left threaded drill bit but I have no idea where to find one that is that small.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

I received a carb set from Ebay that had the slow jet broken off in one of the carbs.

Fear and dread.

I think I found an allen key that just fit into the remaining hole and it unscrewed easily.

No big deal.

I've seen EZ Outs that are pretty small... but It depends on how recessed the broken part is.

It snapped off flush with the hole it screws into on the carb body.

so I was thinking I would buy some left handed drill bits from Freight tools I was wondering if anyone knew what size I should buy?

Here are the two kits Im looking at getting

http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=left+handed+drill+bits&Submit=Go

The cheaper has a 1/8in
The more expensive one has a 1/16in

Anyone know if either one will work?

I had this happen once. Used a very small flathead screwdriver. Gave it a couple light taps on the broke off brass and it came out very easy.

Same thing happened to me. Don't remember what I used to get it out but it was easy to do and whatever tool I used was on the bench at the time. I kinda think it was a small phillips screwdriver. It should have almost no resistance to being turned.
