Is there a replacement hardware kit for 78 cb550Ks?
« on: October 04, 2009, 07:26:49 AM »
I will, soon (read: eventually) be rebuilding at least one 550 motor. Ideally once it gets cold and I've got the stir crazy winter fever. I'm going to replace at least the primary chain on the lower end... so, it'll be an affair. The question is: is there a hardware kit for these bikes? All the nuts and bolts and screws and jazz needed to make it bright, shiny and new. Every piece of hardware on there now is a beacon of age, rust and corrosion. So, how do you go about doing it? If someone has done the work of making a kit, I'd buy it. If someone has a list of bolts you need to buy, I'll read it. If I have to go through nut by nut, bolt by bolt, well, by gum, by golly, I'll do that. How do you guys do it? What do you recommend? What tips can you give a youngin' like myself?
