knee dents in tank

So,I have 4 tanks for my cb750,2 clean,1 flaking(unfortunately its my original sunrise orange)1 really nasty inside but nice and doesnt leak.I tried to sell the nasty one on ebay for 10 bucks but noone wanted it so last nite I took my rubber mallet to it.I dont know #$%* about metal shaping so this is the first time and you know what,its AWESOME.Its actually turning out great,much better than I anticipated.The more I read about restoring tanks I realize that this one can be fixed.I will take pics tonight for ya.I am psyched!This is a pic of the tank before I took a mallet to it.

here is the tank .Its a work in progress,but I think smoothing with body filler it will be pretty cool.

Thinking about doing this... how did you determine your contour lines and what was your process in hammering?

I didnt go by any lines,I just went for it.trying to get each side identical is kinda hard,but I have faith it will turn out ok.Dont really have a technique,used a hard rubber mallet so far,not the traditional way of doing things but I got results,As I smack it I work my way towards the center of the dent,smack at about a 45 degree angle as I go,Hopefully i will do some more this week,got all winter so I am not in a hurry.
