oil leak between crankcases
« on: October 10, 2009, 07:00:07 AM »
Hello all.
My bike (CB750K8) is leaking oil between the crankcases, at the back of the engine, just under the tube which connects with the oil tank. The engine has just been rebuilt and used Hondabond to join the crankcases. The mechanic suggests to clean the area very well and put JB weld where it leaks. Will it be enough?
Thank you.

It is certainly worth a try if that is definately where the leak is from.
A bit unusal for a leak to occur there if the cases have just been resealed.
This can occasionally happen if the case mating faces have been prone to damage at some stage or have been unevenly torqued and are not perfectly flush with each other upon reassembly.
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.
