CB550 Oil Screen
« on: October 10, 2009, 10:38:10 AM »
According to the maintenence manual the oil screen can be taken off of the oil strainer and cleaned.
I've tried everything to get the darned thing off. Even broke out the dental pick to try to pry it off. I thought maybe it screwed off but that didn't seem to work. It doesn't just snap off easily as it seems to indicate in the manual.
So I did the best I could to clean it while it is still on the strainer.
I haven't put the pan back on yet and if someone has a suggestion about how to get the screen off, I would appreciate any advice. CB550 K1.
Thanks

I did mine recently and I'm pretty sure it just pulls off. If it's stuck try working some oil into where it mounts and give it a little wiggle and twist it gently back and forth a bit. No idea how long it was since mine came off but I don't remember it being a big deal to remove.

The screen comes out with the cast alloy mushroom, dont forget the small hose to the gearbox pump on the 550 (not there on 500)
