...checkbook in hand wanting to buy my bike.  I had to tell him no but he was a hell of a nice guy.  He told me he had never seen one in such great condition, made fun of me for riding an auto but he must have asked me how much I wanted for it four or five times.  I've only had the bike for about a month and its my first, so I wasn't really willing to part with it.  This ever happen to anyone else?

I get offers once or twice a year... and mine's starting to look a bit rough.  Though, never with checkbook at the ready.

Had some lawyer guy leave his business card on my bike one time, and he wrote on the back "Any time you want to sell this bike, call me first".  I never called him, I still have the bike, and that was like 8 to 10 years ago.

I get that with my Norton, and my RX-7...it gets scary sometimes because i've been followed until i stop somewhere and get off...only to be asked to buy or just for info about the Norton. Being followed makes you paranoid it's for a bad reason hehe.

I had the business card thing happen with the RX-7. Put under the wiper blade.

Just last week while waiting at a long traffic light the guy in the car next to me was saying how great the 750 looked (he had a 1980-- mine's a '75, while another guy on the other side of me was asking if I wanted to sell. Seems like this happens every few months. I get the same thing with my '79 F100 short bed.

Happened to me while eating at a subway. Some guy rolls up, walks in, asks me if I'm selling my bike (78 cb400a). I tell him no, he says thanks, then gets back in his car and drives away. That was wierd.

I also had a note on my 83 Nighthawk 550, with a phone # saying he wanted to talk about the bike. He wanted to buy it for parts for his 550, I ended up buying his.

Within the first week of owning my 74k I had three offers, haha. Back before I broke the transmission I got offers pretty regularly, at least once a month or so.

After I got mine running a few months back I have gotten offers every time I park the bike either in front of my house or at the store.   I even had a guy tell me to name my price as he whipped out his check book at the bike shop.   I just tell them no even though I got 2 in pieces in my garage.   This is my first and don't think I will ever sell it unless I was really hurting for money but even then I would find another way to get the cash.

Early this summer, I had a guy wanting to trade his Mustang for my bike. I laughed but the guy was serious. I declined the offer.

My record is 8 in one day. Granted each time they weren't offering to buy my bike. Just wanted to come over and look at it & talk about it. I was doing a trip from Iowa to WI  via country roads ( around 500 mi ) and and every stop I had someone come up and talk to me.

Otherwise if I'm just riding around home in town, I might get someone every month or so yelling out there car window cool bike! I usually get  1 or 2 offers a year of someone wanted to buy my bike

What I noticed a lot and fine REALLY weird is sometimes when me and my brother are out and I'm riding say the 750 and he is riding the 350 twin someone comes up and  looks at the just the 350 or vise Vesra and ignore the other bike like they have no idea what it is! You would think if they know one of the bikes they would at least know the other or know its from the same era... but I seriously  think they have no idea.

For me, somebody coming with a checkbook and asking me to put a price for my bike is just bravado. If you want something, you don't show so clearly that your budget is that high.

I have the feeling that the people who has been able to make so much money to spend it on whims like a motorcycle, has not made it by showing their interest when they want something.

If people ask you to buy your bike, tell them to put their money where their mouths are. Get serious and talk about money and arrange to meet next day, and see how many of the "checkbook guys" are indeed willing to get the pen out of the pocket for the signature. Both of you can talk about business and retract at any moment before the handshake, so there is nothing wrong with it, as long as the other guy asks first. If the other guy was bragging, you beat him in his own battlefield. If the other guy was serious, you tell him you just wanted to check whether he was or not, and that you will seriously consider his offer.

I totaly see what your saying.  If someone asked me again I would have to seriously take a night to think about selling my bike. I mean I would probly give the guy my number and take his and see what goes from their. If he calls me before I do then I know he is serious and has the cash to do it.

Had a guy in Madison, WI leave a note offering to trade a Yamaha 750 triple and 750 Interceptor for my bike.  I seriously thought about it, but I had big plans for my bike this summer.  Plus, I wouldn't have felt right trading it with work left to do to make it in 100% condition.  Maybe this spring.  I've always wanted a triple.  Funny thing is, after the trip I'm taking, I'm not sure there's gonna much left of it.

My first car was a 1970 Mustang. Right after picking it up I took it to get inspected to see what all I needed to fix to get it on the road. The guys at the inspection station said that it needed so much work that I shouldn't even worry about trying to fix it. Then proceeded to try to buy it from me. I declined. 8)

CB 350 Twin,
have you run into an old 750 Automatic Honda in your town? If you do ask him how he enjoyed Bonneville last year, & tell him  754 says Hi.. ;D

Mostly when I put it in shows! Not one has the $'s though. When I tell them the value and what I would be willing to sell it for...most gulp and continue to admire. Not really interested at this time in selling. I also realize that every year that goes by, it appreciates a little more. Now that I have Bob Hansen & Bob Jameson signatures on the tank, it is one of only two bikes that have that, I am sure that the value has gone up even more. The other bike that has it is Swany's sandcast. (which can be seen on the sandcastonly website.)

Here's mine....

Never seen a Hondamatic around here, only seen one other 750 out here on the road ever. It was a kid my age and wasn't in that great of shape.

I do however see a lot of 750s and 350s and the like in great shape sitting in garages that haven't been ran in ages around here.

Now and then I have someone tell me they used to have one, or a younger guy tell me he likes older bikes like mine, but no offers yet. I used to think I would sell it for a good amount, but now I think the price would go up more.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.
