Yes, dry sump was built... just like when Team Honda went to one on AMA CB750F Based DOHC Superbikes. As you know the oil pump is located on left side of engine close to C/S and behind alternator cover, not in oil pan like CB750. This make it easy to fabricate. You need a dual rotor pump and the fittings to route oil lines to a remote tank and oil cooler.

The bottom cover could be reduced in depth and the pick up moved up also. But you would not need to do this...the oil pickup would work just fine, once you installed the dual rotor oil pump.

My japanese is not good enough, bought myself a nice book with very nice pic's but cannot scan these due to the construction of the book and do not want to ruine it.
Nice to know, they called it CB500R but in reality it was up to 749,35 cc, 86.7 rwhp at 11.000 rpm. Three valves and CDI ignition, dry clutch, dry sump.
Actually they went from 498 to 650, 675, 702 and finally 749,35cc over a timespan of 1972, '73 and '74.

Looks to me like the "mike" in the picture is Mike Hishiki of Honda RSC in Japan and then he came over and worked for a Honda dealer in the eastern USA, then he went to American Honda for a few years. He had a real RC750 and I think I see it in the background behind the CB500 based racer

Any information on this picture?

Do you know Mike? I would like to talk with him, as the last time I did was when I first went to work at AHM. American Honda Motor Co, Inc. Since then I found his rather cobby kit CR750 he talked some East coast dealer into allowing him to throw together.

T/F or F/C every year at Brainerd International Speedway up in Northern Mn. The home of the Zoo...the wildest, fun you can have. 58,000 drag race nuts all camping. Help out on some of the cars my buddies run...if they can afford the nitro and tyres!

Been to Japan and thats qutie common there,

if you have a cold and dont want to spread germs, other people ride with masks and gloves in the subway, strange for us, normal for them,

just the blokes who made our sohc's......

With referance to the last 3 pics. Does anybody know where I might find the rear shocks like on those bikes?
Has a long body with a short spring and an eye on both ends.

THat shock, looks to be from the actual CR750 Kit parts package. It, or that type (long looking, due to short spring located close to top eye) is the traditional Honda shock of the 60's & 70's GP period.
