I just watched this. A heart wrenching yet inspiring film. I loved it.

Decent flick, I don't understand why they had the writer divorced in the movie- I guess they have to ramp up the drama coefficient for maximum effect.  ???

i agree with you there; as if there wasn't enough going on. and what was up with the raccoon subplot? i suppose i'll read the book.

the strength of the story, and acting, more than made up for the less than ideal director's story telling imo.

I really enjoy watching both of the lead actors in othe roles. At one point in the movie (at home on dvd) I nodded offl. A bit too slow at points. Enjoyable none the less.

Saw it on a plane a few months ago as well.  Good movie.
