new chain

I am looking to get a new O-ring chain for my 78K. I still have the original set up with sprockets and chain size of 630. Are there any clearance problems? I would like to stick with the 630 size just because it is original.

Should be no dramas. My K7 is an early '78 & a 630 "o" ring chain went straight on

Not sure but I think it depends on which bike and the original sprockets, my 500 definatly wouldn't accomodate an o-ring chain., There was also another post here earlier about the joiner link on an o-ring chain getting snagged...have a search.

It hurts to admit when you've made mistakes, But when the're big enough, the pain only lasts a second

Easiest way is to get a pair of vernier calipers & measure the old & new chains. As I said before, I had no troubles with a 630 in conjunction with two new Honda sprockets-41 tooth & 15 tooth.

My K7 is complianced as a '78 & I recently replaced chain & sprockets (don't do one without the other.) I used standard Honda sprockets & a 630 "o" ring chain. 7,000 km & no troubles. If you're wary, get a cheap set of calipers & measure both new & old chains.
