Boy, its been a while since I've been on this forum. My sign on no longer worked, but I still wear my SOHC/4 tee-shirt proudly.
My CB ended up with one of my boys, but I still ride a 92 nighthawk that I have hyper tuned.
I've been fooling around with CB750s since the early 70s. I worked in an auto body shot, then the idea was to chopper the things. Certainly was a different beast. Can't say it was a good idea. In the mid-70s things got cool. We had a great group of guys in New Hampshire who cafe-modded their bikes, and along with a few BSA and Norton riders we had a great weekend circuit from pub to pub. Some guys raced at Loudon.
The itch is coming back again and I'm looking for a winter project. I've always wanted an adventure bike to take to Maine. Why not mod a 750 for adventure biking?
Have any of you guys done anything similar? Because it would be sacrilegious to destroy an antique SOHC/4, I'm thinking of using a nighthawk. You can get them cheap with low mileage.
I'm starting to consder what needs attention:
forks
rear shocks and possibly travel
sprocket and chain
exhaust
engine protection
seat
racks and bags
add-ons; GPS
Any of you guys with suspension experience, your input is appreciated.
