It's a shame, they're worth more in parts than whole

This is a '76 Honda GL 1000.
I can't believe it is worth more to part it out than sell it whole.

What's that white stuff, snow? Man, those guys deserve a medal for pulling bikes apart in those conditions! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Doesn't look bad enough to scrap? But maybe the engine is blown?
What would a runner like this sell for?

Maybe they didn't want to mess with getting a title.

It's true with all vehicles. If you go out and buy just about any vehicle and just part it out and you will better than tripple your money. I mean look at the altenators or starters from the early 90's Ford Probes ($500 for the alt and $300 for the damn starter) new) $1500 for the harness.

Not here either anymore. People have switched gears a bit. Now they buy SUV's and full sized trucks that need the front end rebuilt every 60K.  :D

The fact it is worth more in pieces is the reason my bike always brings me home,  I have to remind it of that fact every now and then.  She has seen 1 roll in on tires and out in boxes.  Fear is my greatest tool.  Is is sad to kill a bike, but that title crap makes it happen.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I too feel remorse when a fine condition vehicle meets the breakers wrenches. To view some of the parts on eBay and surmising the shape of the bike before breaking her up is tragic. But as long as there is a buck to be made....
Sad indeed.

Sounds like a pretty effective technique. I'll have to give it a try. Cursing and swearing has not worked so far.  ;D

Don't think of it as one bike being torn to pieces, think of it as several other bikes being made roadworthy again, or kept in roadworthy condition.

That being said, I hate it when an ebay seller is parting out a bike and puts up 50 auctions in a row with nothing but the same picture of the whole bike in every auction and the name of the part being sold.  If I'm going to buy a used part, I want to see at least one picture of the part by itself so I can see what condition it's in.  Plus I don't want to wait for weeks on end for the lazy-ass to finally get around to stripping the bike so he can ship the part to me.  I want to know it's pulled and ready to ship.

rant off

Rant extended

I like the one of some bike, the photo was taken back 30 feet and the bike is leaning onto a pile of 20 bikes in the back ground. and the ad reads "Battery Box SOHC CB750 HONDA" and the photo is a cb550!

Rant ended
