I got stuff coming from all over. Cant wait to have it all done! Next Wednesday is motor cleaning day. And I have given up on the soda blasting on this project. I am just going to paint my carbs and run the shocks as is. I AM ready to ride this beast again!!! So, clean/paint the motor, start reassembly, hope there aren't too many obstacles along the way. By the way, the tires in the pics are going to be replaced, so I just painted all over 'em. Hopefully I don't destroy the paint on the wheels changing tires!

painting carbs is a bad idea.  it turns ugly fast.

Might be worth having the local bike shop replace the tires, they are usually pretty good at it with out chipping the paint.

Can't wait to get my bike to that point.. sounds like you will have it up and running soon..

So, most of you probably dont know this about me, but I am horribly impatient. I am an instant gratification 5 minutes ago kind of person. So, I went out this afternoon to "clean" my motor. Did that for about 35-45 minutes. Then I decided to "test" the engine paint on a cover and see how it looked....

So, yeah... It ended up looking OK. Not perfect, but good enough. Let that sit for a while then flip it over and paint the bottom... The motor was pretty clean, there were some grimey spots, but I figure those are hard to find, and this sure ain't no show bike!!!  ;D ;D ;D

BTW, that is Krylon BBQ paint, hope it holds up ok...

I'm the same way.
are you going to touch the raised edges on the fins and maybe valve adjustment covers so they're silver?

We'll see... This motor is going to (hopefully) be a temporary. I want to build a strong 836 to put in. That way I can ride something while I am rebuilding the motor. So I am probably going to keep it simple so I can start reassembling already. Oh my God, it just hit me... I am almost ready for reassembly!!!! Hell yes!  ;D
*still got to buy some tires... sure wish captainamerica would sign on!!! $100 for a set...*

Yeah, I know... Would've been a sweet effin deal though... The '74 I bought had a fairly new tire on the front I could "borrow" for the '78. Maybe I will just buy a matching rear...

OK, Facebook has decided to work again... Here are two more pics of 2 of the 4 velocity stacks I got from SDP. Very happy with 'em, and they are surprisingly light...

I got a cam from Shenanigans in today. I was concerned, because apparently the R1 cams were used as blanks for the 77/78k cam... Looking at the slope on it(havent seen my stocker), and the drilled out cam sprocket(i know IC, its awesome)... I think this is the real deal... Someone who knows better tell me I am right!!!

Oh and here is something I got for my lady... Shh don't tell her!!(dont worry she isnt on the forum...)

Yep, I am gonna do it... I know I know, we have only been dating for 5 years, how can I be sure she is the one???  :D :D :D I'm stoked!
