I am getting ready to start a new project since OPERATION BIRTH KONTROL is pretty much finished. It is a 1973 CB750k. I haven't decided if it will be hardtail, strutted, or just short shocked in the rear. I have a set of 6" over front fork tubes that I would like to use. I will be running a 16" rear wheel. So if anyone has one for sale shoot me a PM. I think last but not least it has to be a two seater but no huge king-queen seat. So come on guys give me so more ideas so I can get the ball rollin.

if you want to use those forktubes youre going to have to figure out a way to rake the frame and triple trees so you'll have the proper amount of rake and trail for safe handling.

Lets leave the engine parallel to the ground.

Lets keep the same rake and trail.

So we have to raise the neck high enough to do this.

Add material to the down tubes and the main backbone which will tilt the tank up and angle its top back.

Then...clubman bars in their proper position...will be a reach out... instead of down.

Vual-laa, chopper style without the funny handling or the need for more parking space.

After more thought and looking at a lot of pictures. I am probaly not going to use the 6+ forks. I am however probaly going to make it hard tail. I have been looking at a lot of pictures of frame jigs people have built. But i am still trying to figure out how what route i should take. I realy don't like the look of the tc bros weld on hardtail kit. So let the research continue.

I did find some drawings of a frame jig on another post so i guess it is time to clean up the lab and start sourcing some materials and parts. I have been really thinking hard about colors for the frame,tank,fenders and wheels. I am actually kind of stuck on that part. I already have a red and black bike so I am trying to steer myself away from that.

I am still looking at other peoples bikes and trying to figure what size oil tank should be used. Also anyone know of a post about oil filter block off plates or running a remote mounted filter? I am probaly going to run a 16 rear wheel and tire. i still would like to run a hair longer front fork but keep the frame level. But like i said this all just thoughts for now.

Still looking at other builds and making a to do list and thinkin to myself will the 73 motor fit in a 78F frame without modifications?

That frame mock-up looks excellent. How about re-lacing a stock front wheel with a 16" rim; the 'Harley 45" WLA' look ? It'd make the front forks look longer and with a 16" rear the engine would remain horizontal but the bike would be lower.

Might be worth doing a photoshop mock-up first.

Thanks bucky! Ogri I don't know how a 16" front wheel will look but i will definetly draw one up to see. I have been reading more posts and have a few questions for those watching. I would like to run a round oil tank and was wondering what the capacity should be(minimum) and does anyone know the distance between centers of a set of 73k carbs and 78f carbs? and throat diameters ?

I am going to build a bobber out of all the leftover stuff i have in my garage and will use 16 inch wheels front and back, maybe even a 6 inch wide rear and a 4 inch wide front....

I'm not sure if I'm following this, but it sound like you're just telling him to drop the forks in triple trees. That alters your geometry, and you can't fix it with clubmans. A chopper with clubmans...a new trend?

Anyone think RustRocket likes alcohol?

here are a couple places that do nice hardtails, there are some people on the hondachopper board that do them also. mine is very similar to the cycle one hardtail only mine had a 4 inch stretch in the rear and i think theirs is 2. here is mine, i have since peeled the headlight ears off and put a gas tank on with a half tunnel in the front and frisco mount rear so it set level, but that tank got me on the road for a few months this summer and thats all i wanted, too bad it looked so stupid, lol.

I kinda like that tank in that setting - looks right. I really really like the oil tank and hoses! Personally, I like to see the rear fender snugged up tight against the battery but that's just me..

is there any performance benefit to drilling those drum brake covers? I keep seeing people who do it, but I never get to ask 'why'

Does rain get in at the pads worse that way, or is that deficit countered by its faster cooling=less fade?

It's supposed to mimic the race bikes, who drilled them to cool the brake down, keeping brake fade from setting in too fast.

yeah, water and dirt can get in there, but for the water to get in that small of a hole, you would have to shoot the water right in there......when I do mine, I will drill a small hole at the bottom to allow any water to drain out.
