Mcmaster Carr Coolest Friggin Site ever (or close...)
« on: November 04, 2009, 05:56:57 PM »
Am I the only one that thinks this site is the coolest thing on the InterWeb (with the obvious exception of certain Gentleman's Special Interest sites)??

i keep a McMaster Carr catalog in my office (bathroom) for reading material
Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

One thing I have found with the McMaster catalogue is they dont offer the correct thread pitch used on our bikes (Specifically 10 X 1.25 pitch for my brake conversions or stock GL caliper mounts).

I have been using Fastenal.com for these bolts as they have a retail store in my area. I wish McMaster had the correct pitch as the local Fastenal store has muffed up my last 3 orders.

Yeah, I've been having trouble finding proper pitch bolts also. On a side note, I did find some BPT pipe fittings at Mcmaster, though (otherwise kinda tough to find)...

The only thing I don't like about Mcmaster Carr is I find that they have to many options so if you don't know exactly what you're looking for it's impossible to find it. Did that make sense?

I just bought a bunch of SS 10mmx1.25 bolts from these guys. Slow shipping and sometimes it takes 48 hours for email response but well worth the wait. The bolts I got from them are the nicest I've ever seen. They don't look like normal stock they look custom, with domed heads and machined finish, very cool.

Slow shipping?  I've bought a lot from them and I always receive next day standard.  Of course I'm in Minneapolis and they're near Chicago so maybe that's why but I've always had excellent service.  Nothing ever out of stock either.  Had to go there to pick up something when I was down there on business.  The place is huge.  Two whole sides of the building is nothing but loading docks and there's hundreds of them.  Several miles just to drive around the place.

Sorry if it wasn't clear, the second paragraph is regarding the company who's link I posted.

Yeah, I'll try to remember to post a pic of the bolts I got for my brake caliper. They are so nice.
