Your bike is sick!

I remember when you first got it and it had the nice kit. Then you decided to go in a different direction. Absolute perfection! One of the best builds!

In regard to pic, I meant you on the side of the road walking in full leathers with the one bolt you got from home depot with a smile!

Thanks man, I really love it too. My painter is a genius and he took my idea and executed it to perfection.  The logos are paint not stickers and they look perfect.

Yeah I should have taken a pic of me covered in sweat walking back to the bike, I can take pictures of the blisters I got from walking in a brand new pair of Gasolina boots if you want!

Made a mess in my garage yesterday ;)
I hope I'll make the bench to look better today, place all inner parts of my engine in clean boxes ready to be cleaned.
Crankcase to be cleaned too, I ordered paint today. Motip Engine Paint Aluminium.

Took the 550 for a ride yesterday and the clutch cable failed...this is the second one within the last two months.  The first one was a relatively new Motion Pro.  When that one went, I put on the original that I took off....was replaced just as a precaution.

Bad luck or is there something else going on here?  They have both failed at the handle (cable pulled out of the end piece).

When I replaced the original with the Motion Pro, there was a small plastic "sleeve" that went around the end of the original cable that I assume was there to keep the cable from "creaking" in the handle and help with friction.  Well, it was old and basically disintegrated when I took it off.  The Motion Pro cable did not come with one.  Is this the cause of my failures...this lack of plastic piece?  If so, where do I get a new one?  Do they come with aftermarket replacement handles?

Clutch pull force is stiff, but nothing ridiculous or abnormal.  I've had the cable routed a few different ways and it doesn't really change.

Thoughts?

Rolled the little 550 out of the garage, wiped it down and went for a cruise...

I'm going to be in CT working at ESPN the week of the 4th.  But possibly this Saturday or when I get back for sure.  Do you ever hit up any of the weeknight Cafe gatherings at the Mohawk?

Worked on the CJ. Sanded & painted & polished mostly. The side covers for the CJ360 were terribly oxidized.
As near as I can tell they were originally painted anyway. That alt cover took a lot of sanding before it was ready to buff.
Also removed the swing arm bushings.  WTF, the bushings were made of some kind of composite plastic.
Then I took the K5 out for an hour or so. Found a neat little road nearby.  Found yet more wineries.
There must be 25 different wineries out here!

Thanks.
Nah, I just never realized there were so many wineries out here.  If I stopped for samples at every one I'd never make it home!
Apparently Spanish grapes do quite well here.

I put the 37 tooth rear sprocket back in my 550 replacing the 34 tooth I had put in previously. The 34 tooth was an attempt to cut high way speed rpm down a bit which it did but the 550 just never really like it because it just pulled the motor that much farther away from it's powerband at 60 mph compared to the 37 tooth.

Took em both for a spin.
The  750 was doing its bogging in the rain thing yesterday... Got it to do it again today with a rinse at the car wash. But... Couldn't  make it happen at home with a spray bottle... so the true issue remains unissolated. (points ARE sealed up tight) Checked the caps / wires ... trimmed one questionable wire and reinstalled all with much dielectric grease...  Still need to tidy up the POs iffy wiring around the coils though. I won't let the rain stop me no way no how. :)

Took the 750 for another ride this AM. Still felt as if she wasn't at full power. Went into a set of carbs that has 125 mains. Swapped those in and went for another ride. Solved! Really impressed with her.

Same as the CB450 I bet, called 'phenolic' bushings I think.

I got bronze replacement ones for the CB450, you might be able to get bronze ones for your bike too.

Got insurance, bought a helmet, attached the new plates, got it back on the road for the first time in 36 years.
Put 20 miles on it. Still a lot of work left despite 7 months' work after title-less garage find, but it's a rider now. The familiar 4-in-4 CB growl took me back to my youth.

ksteve, really nice bike you have!
The color as the first CB750's I saw here first half of 70's,  still a kid and too young to drive one. Last year of mentioned decade I bought a blue one. (Same as I have today in my avatar, victim of the early 80's upgrade fever.)

Put on my new to me  and freshly resurfaced front disk.  The old one was warped, glazed and squeaked horribly!  The new one makes no noise at all so far ;D  Thank you Speedracer.

Thanks, Larry and the rest of y'all for the kind words. It is a great feeling.
This is a good-nuf build: not perfect or a showpiece by any means, but it passes the 10-foot test and runs better than I expected.
