Had a nice ride with a group of V Stars. Hung with them pretty good.

Although didn't start out so good...on the way to the Aiken Motorcycle shop, seemed my battery was dying. Thought maybe the battery was bad, cause it went bone dry a couple of weeks ago. All I did then was, add water and beer, and she fired up.

Well, after some investigating, found the wire connection coming from the stator, was almost disconnected. Plugged it back in and now all is well.

Enjoyed the rest of the day at the Iron Horse Bar and Grille.

BTW, it was the 750.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Put some fresh paint on my engine cases. Also, finally heard from Hondaman regarding some head/carb work he is doing for me. Can't wait to see the result! Final assembly isn't that far away!

Bruce, the PO of my CX500 told me that the engine was really quiet when idling around town, but had a real "bark" when you opened it up. Yeah right Bruce, the "Bark" was caused by rust holes in the exhaust crossover, ha ha!

I MIG welded a plate over each hole, which was a PITA as the metal was paper thin, and I ended up burning holes, then filling holes, then burning more holes etc. Eventually I ran out of holes, it's spit-ugly, but it doesn't leak.

Whilst I was underneath it, I discovered that the centre stand was slightly bent when Bruce fell off. I was surprised at how easy I could bend it back into shape with a nice long piece of pipe.

And yes, I did fire it up with the pipes off! "Bloop bloop bloopity bloop"!

I sorted the front brakes while I was at it, it turns out one of the hoses from the junction was blocked, so I ratted thru my CB750F2 parts, and found a hose that almost long enough, so it's on for the time being. With some weight over the front end it's fine, but I'll replace it this week. It was a long day, and I didn't have time to take it for a "test ride", but I'll do that next weekend. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

If you look closely, you can see the three bikes I worked on yesterday..2 750's, and the CA95 in the way back.

It was mostly rainy today, but I managed to sneak out for a short (very short, like 10 miles) ride on my 400F between showers, and then brought it back when it started raining (this is my fair-weather bike, I'm not afraid of rain, I commute to work on my newer bikes rain or shine).

Since I've never posted this thread before, I'll include stuff from the last few weeks too.   I recently put a new battery on the 400F and rebuilt it's brake caliper too.   Oh, and washed and waxed it last weekend.

That's it for now!

Put the side covers from my 74 to the K1. This bike drives like a dream! Absolutely smooth! Only 7 miles but still great.

The rain stopped long enough here in the Seattle area for me to head out on some dry roads for a 2 hour ride.
It was a balmy 60F.  No winterizing for me. I'll get out as long as its above freezing....

Had to pull the carbs  on the 550 because it started pissing gas.  One of the float needles i replaced in march was of course busted...  threw in a working spare and i was back in business.   Buddy brought over his new Suzi 750 cafe that's been stalling out on him and i helped him getting running a little smoother.  Carbs need cleaning though for sure.  Then we took a little buzz around town in the 43 degree weather.  Brrrr..

About 40 or so miles. That is a 2008 Buell 1125r he riding.

And yes, I was the only SOHC4, but had most of the older guys come up and talk with me about it. Saying  they had a 750 back in the day and wished they still had it.

My battery went dead on the way the to the start of the ride, had no lights and was not going to be allowed to ride with them. .........found my harness came unplugged at the stator connection. Plugged it back in, and all was good.

I'm using the free WiFi at Archie's Restaurant instead of pulling out of the Bus Lot to start my morning runs.  35F with winds gusting to over 40 mph and rain.  I get almost to the school entrance I normally use an find the road blocked by Consumers Power trucks and yellow tape.  Seems that a utility pole is down and they wouldn't let me through.  I had to go  two miles around to another entrance to the school.  All the neighborhood in the vicinity of the school and the school itself was dark.

After  shutting down the bike I hear my phone beeping.  A missed call.  Called them back.  It was another bus driver calling to tell me that school was called off because of the power failure.

At least I'll have a good breakfast of steak and eggs while my hands warm up!

Took the opportunity that the 'hurricane' offered here in upstate NY to swap out my front brake rotors. Got a full set on ebay (fronts and rear) all in good shape for 30$. My fronts had been warped since I got the bike and would oscillate / squeak, now they are perfect.
