Adam, Blitzburg, mother#$%*er, I am so pissed I am going to look at 99 VTR1000 superhawk tomorrow.  Not that I will sell the CB but, I am fed up with this thing right now...

That's it mate, buy the VTR, they're great bikes, and anyway, your 550 is probably fcuked, so why not? ;D

Can't go wrong with a Honda twin.

This is a broken exhaust bracket from my 550 I discovered while removing the passenger foot pegs from the bike. Rather than replace it (or at least properly repair it), the previous own simply tightened it down and concealed the damage.

Newbie here:

After replacing the o-rings on the tubes between the carbs earlier in the week, I waited for it to stop raining. It stopped raining, the battery was dead. Jump started her, then the caliper piston got stuck out, bike would barely roll. Got some pressure off the piston, putted around with no front brake for a little while. This weekend I get to clean out the caliper. Woo-Hoo!

Oh hey howdy!  :)   Welcome!
I used to live in Eureka Springs years ago.  Great place to ride!  Just be careful on the way to the lake.  ;)
I still have many friends there.

That works for me! :)
I think it's those pipes that really sets it off!
You're gonna want a fork brace of some kind, however.

Dad and I took the bikes out to a local car/bike show. The bike portion wasn't advertised at all so there were only a few bikes there. Lots of people interested in our hondas though so hopefully they do better next year.

Stock seat installed. What did people do before eBay?

Mock-up of new tail light (a vintage Lucas - most likely Triumph or BSA). What did people do before Craigslist?

Tore my front breaks apart as they were sticking. Drained the fluid, pulled the caliper, popped the piston and cleaned the crap out of everything. Reassembled everything and bled the breaks.

The breaks work flawlessly now with no squeaking and no binding. Well worth the hours work and three beers.

really windy here today,,i still went for a ride then an oil change, also i repacked the muffler with more glass wool and buzzed the exhaust outlet to match the perforated tube, havent ridden it yet,it had a bit of a fluffy sound idling but over all sounded good before, its no louder now reving without load but i considered the sudden square edged outlet a turbulent thing, ill find out later how it sounds under load and decell.
        from this

          to this.

couldnt find any crabs so that has to be a good sign?

Cleaned the carbs and reassembled them. Measured compression and discovered my Master cyl isnt going to ok to use( plastic bowl sun checked and bulges out on 2 sides. also leaks).  :(

Any were to buy a new bowl? I can't even figure out how to take the old one off.

If it is the rectangular type it pulls up.  There is an o-ring that makes it seem like it won't come off, but it does...Larry
